Fever of unknown origin (FUO) is among the more challenging medical conditions for both patients and treating physicians. Because 18F-FDG PET and PET/CT have played increasingly important roles in diagnostic workups of FUO patients, SNMMI, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the American College of Nuclear Medicine formed a working group to issue appropriate use criteria for FUO imaging in both adult and pediatric patients. Check out the highlights here, or view the full AUC on the SNMMI website: https://lnkd.in/eWsumR62

A study using multi-tracer imaging has yielded unexpected results in a new study published in this month’s JNM. Intrapatient intermetastatic heterogeneity, or IIH, was found in a surprisingly high percentage of mCRPC patients. Though the patient survival rate was poor, imaging with multiple tracers shows potential for identifying IIH earlier and more efficiently than a biopsy. This would allow doctors to consider IIH in treatment options and lead to better patient outcomes. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eps7gKsj
