  • 🌟 Kids Helping Kids: A Mission of Heart & Hope 🌟 At Someone Else’s Child, we believe in the power of young people to make a big difference. Through our Kids Helping Kids events, children come together to plan, organize, and give back to their communities. Recently, we partnered with The Hernandez School and Hyde Square Task Force to create 150 care packages for families in need this holiday season – and the impact was truly incredible! This week, we have a special opportunity to celebrate the amazing talents of youth at the Boston Youth Arts Extravaganza on December 6th! 🎭🎶 This vibrant event showcases local young artists, musicians, dancers, and performers who are not only sharing their creativity but also contributing to the spirit of giving and community. The Boston Youth Arts Extravaganza aligns perfectly with our Kids Helping Kids mission – both events highlight the power of youth inspiring change, making a difference, and bringing people together. By attending the Extravaganza, you’re supporting young artists and the next generation of leaders, creators, and community changemakers. Plus, your support and involvement can also help fuel future Kids Helping Kids initiatives, ensuring that we can continue creating opportunities for young people to give back and spread kindness. We invite you to be part of this beautiful movement! Whether you're looking to volunteer, get your organization involved, or donate to support future events, you can help us keep the spirit of giving alive. Together, we can make a real difference, one project at a time. Let’s continue to spread hope, kindness, and creativity—because when kids help kids, everyone wins! 💙 Find ways to give back at https://lnkd.in/eiRpWv9P. • SEC Spotlight on Youth Leadership: Meet Sammy and Anessa! At Someone Else's Child, we value a youth-centric approach that amplifies the leadership skills of young people and fosters their sense of ownership and agency. Our summer camp, Boston Explorers, embodies these values, and we're thrilled to share the inspiring journeys of two of our exceptional leaders, Sammy and Anessa. Meet Anessa Wilson: Anessa began her journey with Boston Explorers as a Leader in Training (LIT). Shy and hesitant at first, she found her voice and confidence through the supportive environment and opportunities to lead. "Boston Explorers helped me find my voice and confidence. When I first started, I was really shy and afraid to be the facilitator of the day. But when I moved into the counselor role, I had to jump in and try it. At some point, it just clicked for me, and I realized I wasn’t afraid anymore." Now, Anessa is in her senior year of college, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and with dreams of becoming a School Social Worker. This summer, Anessa is our Assistant to the Director. "Working here made me realize that I wanted to work with kids as a career and be a voice for them. This program can help guide you with your career path and in general with life." Meet Sammy Obianigwe: Sammy's transformation is equally remarkable. Starting as an LIT, he was initially quiet and reserved. But the experience at Boston Explorers helped him grow into a confident leader. "Boston Explorers has made me more vocal and a stronger leader. When I started as a Leader in Training, I was quiet and kind of stayed in the back, barely saying a word. Now, I'm leading the team, and I truly feel like a leader." This summer, Sammy is our Lead Counselor. His journey from a reserved LIT to a dynamic leader showcases the power of our camp's supportive and challenging environment. "Personally, I’ve had experiences I never would have had if I weren’t part of Boston Explorers—like rowing, Mixed Martial Arts, and going on a Duck Tour. At Boston Explorers, I’ve learned how to work with my coworkers and work with kids, and how to help others. Everybody needs these skills." Under the guidance of Natasha Wright, Esq., our Program Director, Sammy and Anessa are not only leading our team but also shaping the future of Boston Explorers. Their passion, energy, and dedication are driving our camp's success and inspiring the next generation of leaders. We're incredibly proud of Sammy and Anessa and excited to see how they continue to grow and impact the world. Their stories are a testament to the transformative power of youth leadership and personal development at Boston Explorers. Join us in celebrating their achievements and the bright future ahead! #YouthLeadership #YouthDevelopment #BostonExplorers #YouthVoice #SomeoneElsesChild

  • We’re thrilled to highlight an impactful partnership between Fundación El Árbol, Ad Astra Media, LLC, and Someone Else's Child, Inc. This collaboration is empowering rural communities in Mexico by teaching families to produce sustainable, healthy foods and inspiring children with diverse STEAM content. Since 2022, this program has transformed lives in areas with no internet and limited educational opportunities. Women are now building greenhouses for food and additional income for their families, and children are dreaming of careers in science and technology. • A couple of months ago, Someone Else's Child, Inc. launched our inaugural Youth Philanthropy program, which is nearing its end later this month with an inspiring cohort of youth participants. These remarkable young people have not only enriched their own understanding of philanthropy and community impact but have also provided invaluable insights to us at SEC. Their feedback has been instrumental in shaping the future of this program. Together, we've delved into deep discussions on philanthropy, wealth, and the power of giving back. Our youth participants have explored the work of nonprofit organizations in their own backyard, as well as organizations in East Africa and in Guatemala. They've taken the lead on calls with organizational leaders, asking about things that they truly care about. And what is truly exciting is that they are now actively engaged in decision-making, directing new grants towards causes they are passionate about. This program has provided exposure to a field traditionally inaccessible to youth and individuals from communities that are receiving philanthropic dollars. These youth have not only discovered resources within their own communities but also gained insights into global initiatives that may spark future action. Please stay tuned, as we continue this journey. I can’t wait to witness the next steps for these young leaders and to see how our own organization evolves in response to their invaluable perspectives. Thank you to our partners Dearborn STEM Academy, Boston Plan for Excellence (BPE), Tania Baez, Joshua Jorge Fidalgo!!! #youthphilanthropy #youthleadership
