568 days until the first kick on the pitch of World Cup 26’. 8 games. Each one has the economic impact of one Super Bowl — all within 30 days. 3.5M visitors expected to enter our “City in the Trees.” The historic Rich’s clock has struck and the time is one of action rather than contemplation. Our downtown must be prepared and beautified before it can be fully enjoyed and realized. The sleeping fox gets no poultry. It is time to “git up, git out, and git something.” The World Cup is our generation’s Olympics.

"ON EASTER SUNDAY, you will see a great many stylishly dressed men wearing the swellest up-to-date tailor made goods, when, in fact, a great many of those very suits will be from the magnificent line we are showing this week.” - Atlanta Constitution, 1906 That ad was for Empire Clothing, once a small store right here at 115 Broad Street in South Downtown. For nearly 30 years, Atlanta locals shopped here for men’s, women’s, and kids’ apparel. As we restore these historic buildings, our crews uncover pieces of Atlanta’s past—hidden beneath floors, behind walls, and stored away in attics.

We had the pleasure of getting connected with the Rich's Foundation and toured through their office. It was a treasure trove of pictures, stories, and history of Atlanta and South Downtown Atlanta. The first picture is looking down Broad Street at their store in 1928. The other photo was taken today on a walk in front of Five Points MARTA station.

Since opening as Atlanta’s first department store in 1899, Bass Dry Goods has seen better days, sitting mostly empty in recent years. Big changes are ahead, with a major restoration planned and interior demo already underway! 🚧 We’re reimagining this building with an active storefront on Peachtree Street and modern residences above. And with the Five Points MARTA station less than a block away, it gets an A+ for easy transit access.

We painted a friendly reminder of what’s available on Hotel Row on the rooftops of 222 Mitchell and 76 Forsyth (parking garage). We hope this pulls the approximately 2000 lawyers, judges, and jurors out of the Richard B. Russell Building along with the federal employees working in the 1M sqft of the Sam Nunn Federal Building! If our tenants are successful, our downtown will be successful. Increasing foot traffic is our top marketing metric.

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of joining Jon Birdsong and Donnie Beamer Jr., CFA to unveil a transformative step for community safety in historic Downtown Atlanta. What the team at South Downtown Atlanta is building is nothing short of inspiring — a living, learning, working innovation community encompassing 56 buildings across 16 acres. A basic necessity for such a community to thrive is safety. As a company with proud roots in Atlanta, the South Downtown team found an eager partner in Flock Safety. A city that wants to foster economic and creative growth, and help businesses flourish, must have a holistic and responsible approach toward safety. In the words of Mayor Andre Dickens, “Atlanta is a group effort.” It will take all of us — elected officials, law enforcement, businesses, residents — to create a safe and sustainable future. Like thousands of other communities across the country, Flock Safety is now a part of SoDo's story, and its future. https://lnkd.in/eYfDatu2
