Private sector actors can play a pivotal role in responding to humanitarian crises. This was certainly the case after the #earthquake in #Türkiye in February 2023, where companies like Amazon, Chobani, Miyamoto and Koç Holding stepped up in a major way, showcasing the power of private sector engagement in disaster response. This USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance article, based on a research study conducted by Resonance in Türkiye, highlights the critical role these companies played in responding to the humanitarian crisis in Türkiye, and shares insight into how public-private cooperation enhanced the effectiveness and scale of the response! We're proud to see the impact of our work reflected in this important piece!

The Indonesian #tuna industry is the largest in the world, making up 20% of the global tuna catch, yet unsustainable #fishing practices pose a risk to this source of employment and sustenance for many Indonesian communities. Recognizing this risk, the Walton Family Foundation launched the Indonesia Tuna Consortium in 2021, with the goal of developing a sustainable Tuna Harvest Strategy. For the past 3 years, Resonance has worked with five local organizations in #Indonesia to create a plan that aims at 10% catch reduction over three years, ensuring a sustainable ecological and economic future for this vital fishery. Through comprehensive collaboration with the Indonesian government, private companies, and non-profits, the Tuna Consortium was successful in launching the Tuna IAW Harvest Strategy in June 2023 – an important milestone in improving the sustainability and longevity of tuna fisheries in Indonesia! But what’s next? The real challenge moving forward is in implementing the strategy and actually achieving the 10% catch reduction, with monitoring, data collection, and compliance at the core of the strategy. #Connectivity has become a cornerstone for growth, offering opportunities in education, healthcare, and economic advancement. Yet, more than 2.5 billion people still lack reliable internet access, with barriers such as infrastructure gaps, affordability, and digital literacy at play. Bridging the digital divide requires more than just access - it requires meaningful connectivity, where people not only have internet access but can use it regularly and effectively. Achieving this is crucial for driving #SustainableDevelopment and supporting communities in need. At Resonance, we’re working to close the gap by supporting #InnovativeFinancing models and #Partnerships to expand internet access in rural areas. Through insights gleaned from our experience implementing private-public initiatives around connectivity, we’ve seen firsthand how connecting underserved areas can drive economic, educational, and health improvements.
