The St. Louis Sports Commission is the independent, privately funded nonprofit organization that benefits St. Louis through sports. Its efforts focus on attracting, creating and managing major sporting events for the St. Louis region and contributing to its quality of life. Since its inception in 1989, the Sports Commission has fulfilled its mission by producing high-profile events that excite local sports fans, generate revenue for the region and the state, garner positive exposure for the area, and showcase St. Louis at its best. The organization helps make St. Louis a stronger and more vibrant community. It supplements the excitement generated by the area’s professional and collegiate teams to make America’s best sports city even better.

St. Louis’ traditional Olympic Day celebration provides a once-a-year opportunity to run or walk side-by-side with our region’s esteemed Olympians, reinforcing the Olympic spirit and blending sports with culture and education. On Friday, June 21, participants of all ages are invited to join Olympic champion Jackie Joyner-Kersee in running or walking the track at Francis Olympic Field on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, site of the 1904 Olympic Games.
