India is set to add an impressive 22.4 GW of new solar PV capacity in 2024, as per JMK Research. By September, the country had already achieved a 161% YoY increase in utility-scale solar, reaching 13.2 GW, alongside 3.2 GW in rooftop installations. By year-end, cumulative additions are projected to hit 17 GW (utility-scale), 4 GW (rooftop), and 1.4 GW (off-grid), propelling India’s total renewable capacity beyond 200 GW, with solar leading at 45%. States like Rajasthan and Gujarat are spearheading these advancements. The U.S. #solarenergy sector continues its remarkable rise, with solar power generation increasing by 22.5% year-over-year as of September 2024, now contributing 6.63% of the nation's electricity. Leading this charge are 15 states that achieved over 50% growth in solar generation in the past year. South Dakota tops the list with an incredible 7,067% increase, thanks to its first utility-scale solar facilities.
