Humbling moment in my career that I will forever be grateful for. Many don’t know that my bachelors degree is in equine science- fast forward 20 years, enter in roll as practice administrator for amazing rheumatology practice, and end up at our states capitol, with Governor Moore signing Senate Bill 791/House Bill 932. This bill provides Maryland with some of the most comprehensive laws in the country on prior authorization and utilization review protections. If anyone works in healthcare, especially specialty medicine, this a start of change. The challenges of prior authorizations jeopardizes patient care and exhausts medical staff. Having big feelings today after yesterday’s HLA Maryland 2024 Annual Conference. For the past couple years, conferences have taken a back seat and became digitized and impersonal due to COVID restrictions. Being in healthcare we had to take longer measures to make sure our patients, staff, and families were safe. Yesterday’s conference was a breakthrough feeling of being back to 2019. The speakers were amazing, relatable, and educational. The sponsors were engaging and helpful. The attendees were excited, inspired, motivated, and encouraged. Looking forward to future events and completely humbled and gracious to be President of this wonderful organization. Cheers to the future of healthcare leadership!!!
