For the past eight years, our NICU nurses have designed and handcrafted special costumes for Halloween, Christmas, and other holidays throughout the year to celebrate with the babies and their families while in our care. The brains and creativity behind these traditions are Shannon and Michelle, our Level III NICU nurses. Hear firsthand from Shannon and Michelle about how this tradition came to be and the work they - and our entire NICU team - pour into the costumes to create special moments for the families with us over the holidays. 🌟 Gold Star Employee of the Month & Good Catch Award: congratulations to Emily Montgomery, RN with our Mother Baby team! We are thrilled to recognize Emily for both the Gold Star Employee of the Month Award and the Good Catch Award for the outstanding care she provides her patients. She was nominated by a colleague, who said "Emily is the epitome of an extraordinary patient advocate. We had a post-op cesarean section patient who was admitted for a wound infection. Emily continued to advocate for the patient after she left the Mother Baby unit and was admitted to the ICU, checking in throughout the day with her provider and care team. As the patient began to take a negative turn, Emily made multiple calls to get an emergent surgical consult. The patient was immediately taken to surgery, a surgery that most probably saved her life. Emily continued to check on the patient during her inpatient stay, further exemplifying her dedication to patient care." Thank you, Emily, for the exemplary care you provided this new mom and for all that you do for our patients each day!
