The event gathered policymakers, advisors, and field experts to forge a common roadmap for the Safe and Sustainable by Design (#SSbD) framework. The event was an incredible opportunity for the Surfs-Up project to introduce its objectives to the SSbD community, collaborate with global experts and contribute to shaping the future of SSbD application. About us
SURFs UP is a EU co-founded project, that aims to demonstrate the optimized, cost-efficient, and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) production of second-generation (2G) biosurfactants, both biologically and chemically produced, at scales ranging from 150 L to 10 m³. The project focuses on using biobased feedstocks, such as sugars and lignin from hardwood processing residues and waste from regional food processing. These biosurfactants will be tested as functional ingredients in innovative biobased formulations for home and personal care products, as well as for agrochemical applications.
