Welcome to the north of the Arctic Circle! This is Abisko Scientific Research Station, a hotspot (pun intended) for scientists from all over the world. 💡🌍 The station has been a hub for climate and environmental research since 1913. These days, scientists working here can explore how changing conditions like carbon dioxide levels, UVB radiation and snow depth affect ecosystems. 🤔💡 Did you know that the first recording of the ultrasound echo from the heart (ECG) was carried out by Swedish Inge Edler, together with German Carl Hellmuth Hertz? In 1953 in Lund, Sweden, cardiologist Edler did the first execution of ECG on a cardiac patient to see the elements of a defected heart. The examination revolutionized the landscape of cardiac diagnostics. This system uses compressed air to transport waste through underground pneumatic pipes at an impressive speed of 70 km/h.
