Special thanks to SBPD Captain Nick Nicholas for sharing our favorite parking dog. We are so lucky at Southern California events because Yosa gets to attend. She is definitely the star wherever she goes. This an industry challenge, post your favorite pet/parking photo with the hashtag #SWPTAdogs #SWPTApet #PetsandParking #SWPTA2025 #WeLoveYosa

Good morning Parking and Transportation industry! Hope you have had a #PARKtastic first month of 2025. We have a great SWPTA blog written by board member Peter MacDonald of Dixon Resources Unlimited, Jitters Are Momentary check it out below! Whether it's the first the day of school, moving to a new location or starting a new job, first day jitters are undeniable. There is nothing quite like the feeling of walking in the door for the first time, or as is so often the case now, logging into the first video conference. In 2024, after almost eight years with my previous employer, I decided it was time for a new challenge. While I had no specific reason to leave, it was as they say, just time. Walking out the door for the last time from a place with people I truly enjoy was so much more difficult than running out of a place you might detest. I have chosen a new work home (or it chose me) with folks I appreciate in an environment I will thrive. I consider myself lucky, but also recognize the many years of hard work, engagement, and travel that brought me down this path. I owe so much to an ‘off the beaten path’ industry that has become a real powerhouse. And after 20 years, I don’t regret a thing. So, I took a leap, trusting in my gut, while always looking forward but never forgetting the past. What is amazing is how quickly we both forget, and then remember, what it is like to drink from a fire hose. But what is important is the support and encouragement one will receive from across the industry. For that, I wish to thank several people who started as colleagues and turned into friends. And to any naysayers, in the words of a particular green witch, you can’t pull me down. The jitters will last momentarily, but the memories will last forever. Check out all the SWPTAstic blogs at https://lnkd.in/dh6hJtn Here is one from Marjorie Jones, TEZ on Customer Service vs Customer Experiences: What’s the Difference? In the parking industry we are tasked with providing two key elements for parkers: customer service and customer experiences. Both elements are important, but they address different pieces of the customer's parking experience and how they get to their destination. While these two topics may sound very similar, it’s important that we understand their distinct differences as well to create a seamless and pleasant parking journey for all users from on-street to surface lots to parking structures. Customer Service in Parking- Customer service in the parking industry references the interactions between the customer and the parking facility or operation staff. It can also include some of the automated technology systems that the customers engage with including mobile payment applications, parking meters, or PARCS equipment. Basically, any touchpoint where the customer is assisted during their parking event. Successful customer service involves helping to resolve issues, answer questions, and providing help to make sure the customer’s needs are met. Assistance and Support: Make sure that there is always a person available Problem Resolution: Quickly responding to and solving (as much as possible) Communication: Facilitating clear and accurate information Personal Interaction: Providing friendly, knowledgeable, and trained staff Customer Experience in Parking Customer experiences encompass the entirety of the parking experience from beginning to end and throughout the course of their stay. It considers the ease of locating and getting to the parking area / space, the accessibility of payment options, the sense of safety and security, a diverse range of technology options, and so on. Ease of Use: Ensuring that the parking experience is intuitive and hassle-free Environment: Offering a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment Technology Integration: Utilizing advanced technologies such as mobile apps, automated entry and exit systems, and real-time space availability Feedback and Improvement: Actively seeking customer feedback Training and Empowerment: Provide consistent and specific training Consistency: Maintain a consistent level of service across all touchpoints. Proactive Engagement: Anticipate customer needs and address them In the parking industry, both customer service and customer experience are vital to ensuring customer satisfaction. While customer service focuses on immediate interactions and problem-solving, customer experience encompasses the entire journey, from ease of use to environmental factors.
