At The REACH Center, Pierce County youth and young adults who have lived experience with homelessness, meet regularly as the Pierce County Youth Action Board (YAB). YAB members have committed to a mission to create positive change, taking back voice and power by offering more collaboration with and for youth and young adults (YYA), more supportive and structured housing and more support to all YYA in all stages of their lives. Recently, Pierce County Human Services (PCHS) was awarded $3.5M to fund services that provide housing solutions such as rapid re-housing, permanent supportive housing, transitional housing and host homes. PCHS partnered with the Pierce County YAB, leaning on the young people's lived experience and expertise to complete the funding application. Way to go, YAB, we're proud of you and lucky to have you advocating for Pierce County YYA!

Since, 2019, the Juntas program at Catherine Place has been the only ongoing violence prevention and support group offered in Pierce County, in Spanish, with a focus on safety, healing, education, parenting, self-care, community building and resource development. Tacoma Community House is honored to continue the legacy of Catherine Place as we welcome the Juntas program. While Catherine Place has closed its doors, the heart and spirit of their work live on here. Together, we're dedicated to empowering women and fostering a supportive community. See the attached flyer for more on how we're carrying this mission forward. #bettertogether #StrongerTogether #empoweringwomen #SupportiveCommunity #violenceprevention #violencesupport

We are grateful for the partnership with the United Women of Faith! This powerful group of women founded Tacoma Community House 114 years ago and our partnership lives on! Each one of them is dedicated to our community and responding to the needs of those most impacted by vulnerability and marginalization. Thank you for all you do in the community.

Tacoma Community House's YAB (Youth Action Board) hosted the 'Bring the End of Summer Swing', a remarkable event with an inspiring panel discussion. The panel provided a platform for our youth leaders to share their personal stories and encourage the community to take action. We're proud of our youth leaders for bringing the community together and sparking important conversations.

Director of Youth and Young Adult Programs/REACH, Carlos Garcia, and ACI Coordinator/REACH, Elaina Darrington, recently spoke on behalf of youth and young adult programs to the Pierce County Council. 👏 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏿👏🏾👏🏻 We stand in awe of both of you for many reasons - your willingness to ask tough questions, and to speak truth to power, your advocacy, and your commitment to young people. Our hearts were full of love and inspiration for you during your presentation. Thank you for all the ways you use your skills and gifts in service to the community 💫

🌚 💫 This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of celebrating the rich traditions of the Tacoma Moon Festival. Seeing community members come together to learn about, and celebrate our Mexican, Latinx, and AAPI communities was beautiful. A special thank you to the Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation - CRPF for their hard work, and for their partnership in affirming the importance of welcoming and inclusive places for all. 🏮 🎊 🎏 #TacomaMoonFestival2024 #WelcomingWeek2024

It is #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth, and we wanted to recognize our Employment Coach, Vanessa Garcia for being an amazing Latina leader in our community! Last week, she led a craft session - tissue paper flower making, and a delicious homemade treat of coco flan for the entire team. ✂🍫🍰 Thank you for sharing your #HispanicHeritage with us! 💌 #LatinaLeader #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #TacomaCommunityHouse #TeamPlayer #WeAppreciateYou
