Yesterday, the Tala México team hosted its first Tala Talks event of the year with Sebastián Colín Ávila of Airbnb alongside our very own Liliana Herrera Martin. Together, they discussed the impact of tourism on financial inclusion and underscored the need for continued collaboration across the private and public sectors. Tala Talks is an ongoing event series bringing together industry experts to discuss the latest innovations and trending topics pertaining to financial inclusion in Mexico.

The fintech segment, which saw massive growth during the pandemic and immediately after, had a fairly rough 2024, ending with the abrupt shutdown — and then unexpected acquisition — of Bench. Though the rapid pace of funding has slowed, some fintechs are continuing to see growth and expand their teams. https://lnkd.in/gt4eFS4d

Work-from-anywhere policies shouldn’t be controversial! With hundreds of employees across three continents, we’ve always recognized the value of a remote-first work environment. It’s actually one of our superpowers. Our new COO, Michael Olson, put it best: “[Remote work] allows us to tap into a diverse talent pool and gather perspectives from around the world, reflecting where our customers live and enriching our approach to solving complex, global challenges.” At Tala, we believe in-person communication is equally important, which is why we build in face-to-face opportunities to collaborate, co-create, and celebrate throughout the year. Tala was built on the idea of radical trust, and that extends to our employees too. Kudos to Spotify for sending such a clear message!
Founder of PENCE & MODEM STUDIOS | Creating IP & Cutting Through the Noise on Social | Prev. Award-winning Filmmaker and TV Producer. ITV, Channel 4, and Netflix | Speaker & Panellist 🎙️
Spotify's shocking stance, treat your employees like adults. The data speaks volumes about remote work: → 87% of employees embrace workplace flexibility (McKinsey). → Remote workers demonstrate on average 13% higher productivity. → Companies save £8.5k per remote employee annually. Spotify aren't the only ones; Trip the travel site, conducted an A/B test over 6 months and found: → The hybrid work group had a significantly lower quit rate, saving the business millions. → In their case, overall productivity went up 1%. Trust drives performance, freedom fuels creativity. Beyond numbers, it's about human potential: ★ Autonomy is fundamental for human happiness. ★ Mental health is improved by increased work/life balance. ★ The ability to diversify teams is increased. ★ People can be more present with family and loved ones. ★ People already spend a third of their life at work, commuting adds another 8% to that, on average. The most successful companies aren't fixated on location. They're focused on one critical question: "How can we help you succeed?" The future, and top talent, belongs to organisations that recognise their employees as capable, intelligent professionals - and treat them as such. Some jobs can't be remote, almost all jobs can be flexible though. Leaders and employees, share your thoughts in the comments! 👇🏼✨ ------ ➕ Follow Aphra Kennedy Fletcher for more on creativity, media, and business. ♾️ Repost if this would be useful to your network.
