Updates

  • TMH experienced a disruption in our technology systems affecting our computer networks and phones. Our teams took immediate action to ensure the safety of our patients and have gone into our standard downtime procedures. We are actively reaching out to patients with scheduled procedures. This is not a cyber event.

  • Sparkle the Elf, what’s your favorite Uncrustable flavor? Every month President & CEO Mark O’Bryant visits departments throughout TMH to chat with colleagues while enjoying his favorite snack: Uncrustables. Uncrustables with Mark was started as a way for colleagues to hear organizational updates directly from our CEO while also getting to know him in a casual setting. This month Mark answered questions from colleagues on our Neuro unit ranging from how he started his career in healthcare (as a volunteer transporter!) to the latest updates on TMH’s journey to becoming an academic health center. And, of course, Mark answered Sparkle’s question by letting us know that grape is his favorite Uncrustable flavor.

  • Exciting advancements in lung cancer care are happening at TMH. When we first told you about our MONARCH Robotic Bronchoscopy Platform last year, two pulmonologists had just begun performing our first cases using the technology. Today, six physicians are performing robotic bronchoscopy procedures – which helps to detect lung cancer earlier and in hard-to-reach areas of the lungs – and have performed nearly 250 procedures since April 2023. Learn how TMH is leading the fight against lung cancer with robotic technology by visiting https://lnkd.in/ejTgXBqp.

  • 🍁 A Thanksgiving Story of Hope and Gratitude 🍂 This Thanksgiving, we’re especially thankful for stories of resilience and healing—like the story of Andrew Reed. A retired Florida Department of Corrections captain, Andrew was facing the unimaginable: the loss of his leg due to critical limb ischemia. After battling years of diabetes-related complications, he was at risk of amputation and had even been taken off the kidney transplant list. But thanks to the incredible Heart and Vascular team at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Andrew’s life was forever changed. Through the LimFlow procedure, an innovative procedure that restores blood flow to the legs, Andrew was able to avoid amputation and is now on the road to recovery. Andrew and his wife, Cynthia, are particularly grateful this holiday season—not just for the successful procedure, but for the renewed hope it has given them. "To save his leg… we’re blessed. He is blessed," says Cynthia. 🙏 This Thanksgiving, we give thanks to all the doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals who make stories like Andrew’s possible. And we’re reminded of the power of hope, the strength of family and community, and the importance of never giving up. tmh.care/Andrew From our family at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare to yours—wishing you a season filled with love, health and gratitude. 💙

  • Today, TMH celebrated David Dixon, DO, for completing 1,000 gynecologic surgeries using the da Vinci Surgical System! 🎂 TMH is proud to be home to five da Vinci Surgical Systems—advanced robotic technology that enables minimally invasive procedures. These systems offer patients reduced recovery times, smaller incisions, and less post-operative pain. Dr. Dixon is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and practices at North Florida Women's Care. Da Vinci allows surgeons like Dr. Dixon to perform more complex cases, such as a myomectomy – a procedure that removes fibroids from the uterus – and complicated hysterectomies. To reach the 1,000 surgery number, several types of procedures were done, including: hysterectomy, myomectomy, endometriosis resection, sacrocolpopexy and salpingo-oophorectomy. Congratulations, Dr. Dixon! 🎉👏

  • Welcome Tim Hann, our newest team member at TMH Physician Partners - Urology! 😃 Tim is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who brings almost 15 years of nursing experience — including working as a nurse practitioner for a Urology practice in Ohio (where he is originally from). Tim is no stranger to TMH 🏥 , having previously worked with the Trauma Surgery team at TMH Physician Partners – General Surgery from 2022 to early this month. He says, "I loved the people I got to work with on trauma, but when an opportunity to come back to Urology came up with TMH this summer, I applied and luckily got an offer!" Tim will see patients in the clinic, do hospital consults and follow-ups for the Urologists and assist the Urologists in surgery. He says he's mostly looking forward to being back in Urology, working with a variety of patients and with the Urologists, and helping in any way he can. When he's not working, Tim loves to go fishing 🎣 and spend time with his family. Join us in re-welcoming Tim to TMH! 👋
