We celebrate Schaaf & Wheeler and the $72M City of Foster City Levee Improvements project Excellence Merit Award from the ACEC CA Bay Bridge Chapter! This significant sea level rise resiliency project involved 6.5 miles of flood protection enhancements along the San Francisco Bay and several tidal sloughs, following existing levee and floodwall paths. The San Jose Branch is thrilled to announce that it awarded $18,000 in scholarships to students from Cabrillo College, San José State University, Santa Clara University, and Stanford University during the 37th Annual Student Scholarship Essay Contest. This achievement was made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors—Tanner Pacific, Inc., Valley Water, Schaaf & Wheeler—and many individual donors this year. The scholarship winners were celebrated at the Awards Banquet on November 14 at Michaels at Shoreline Golf Links. The event was attended by over 50 students and professionals and featured a networking hour, followed by a keynote presentation from Christopher Hakes, Chief Operating Officer for Watersheds at Valley Water. As part of the Mott MacDonald team, Tanner Pacific, Inc. is honored to provide Owner Advisory services for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Hetch Hetchy Water & Power (HHWP) Strategic Capital Planning & Special Projects Unit’s Transmission Line Clearance Mitigation (TLCM) Progressive Design-Build (PDB) project. This critical initiative aims to mitigate risks associated with public and employee safety hazards, increased wildland fire risks, and potential transmission line outages. By utilizing the PDB Best-Value delivery method, SFPUC HHWP will collaboratively address ground clearance issues across 115 sites, covering approximately 110 miles of 115 kV double circuit transmission lines, 50 miles of 230 kV double circuit transmission lines, and five substations.
