Introducing the New Face of UPWELL: Empowering Teachers for Multicultural Classrooms 🌱 🌐 As part of its evolution, UPWELL is unveiling a new phase—developing a Joint Curriculum and Courses focused on enhancing the skills and well-being of teachers. This new face of the project equips educators to create inclusive and supportive learning environments in multicultural and complex classroom settings. Our approach prioritizes five essential elements: 1️⃣ Well-being at the heart of multicultural education. 2️⃣ Cultural competence to foster understanding and dialogue. 3️⃣ Inclusivity as an actionable skill. 4️⃣ Integration of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to support students' emotional growth. 5️⃣ Empowering teachers as well-being advocates for their students. By emphasizing these, we provide teachers with the tools they need to ensure every student feels valued and empowered to thrive. More updates on the way ✨

The well-being of teachers in multicultural classrooms is often influenced by the perception of cultural diversity as a source of vulnerability. This perception leads many teachers to view multiculturalism primarily as an element of difficulty and challenge in their daily work. To best deal with the complexities of multicultural classrooms, it is essential to provide teachers with specific training. This training should first of all enable them to situate their knowledge, i.e. to understand and recognise the context and influences of their knowledge. Furthermore, teachers should be able to critically reflect on their own cultural and colonial heritage. This approach enables them to develop a greater awareness of and sensitivity to cultural diversity, thus facilitating more effective and inclusive management of multicultural classrooms. The second Transnational Partner Meeting was held online today. It was an important meeting because after the first months of research, each partner presented the results of the fieldwork. From January to April, teachers from Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia and Spain answered questionnaires and interviews and participated in focus groups to tell us about their competences and, above all, their wishes regarding the state of well-being in the management of multicultural classrooms. In all countries, the need emerges for access to all-round training focusing on second language teaching strategies and methods, inclusivity protocols and interculturality to help manage the classroom better but above all to help students feel more included and part of the class. Stay tuned to find out how the work is progressing... we will soon start outlining the new curriculum for teachers. #teacherswellbeing #Upwell #schoolwellbeing #inclusiveschool #ErasmusPlus #multiculturalism #school #training Cestim Verona Glocal Factory Academy of Entrepreneurship T-hap Rete TanteTinte Osnovna škola Lovre pl. The UPWELL project continues. By now, the surveys of the first work package are almost completed and initial analyses show that teachers feel the need to be better trained in the field of welcoming children with a migration background, in the field of L2 teaching and intercultural communication. The surveys in the field will serve us to build a curriculum that can help teachers better understand the classroom in all its multicultural facets and thus manage it with greater competence and serenity. #teachersweelbeing #schoolwellbeing #inclusiveschool #multiculturalism #ErasmusPlus #school #training #Upwell

Field surveys have officially begun. Many teachers, school leaders, university experts, students, and language facilitators have already responded to questionnaires and interviews. Others, however, have been involved in a focus group. The first one we did in Italy was held on Monday, February 5, and uncovered for us what teachers would like to see in order to manage a multicultural classroom well and peacefully. It was very enlightening! Follow us to find out how the project will continue. #teachersweelbeing #inclusiveachool #SchoolWellbeing #multiculturalism #ErasmusPlus #school #training #Upwell

WELL-BEING in multicultural classrooms: how important is it? We, at UPWELL, think it is very! In today's increasingly multicultural educational landscape, teachers play a strategic role in fostering an inclusive and safe learning environment for students from different cultural backgrounds. Teaching in multicultural settings presents unique challenges: it is rewarding yet demanding and educators need to continuously upskill themselves through learning and commitment to fostering an environment where they feel empowered and students feel respected and included. So, WELCOME to UPWELL, a new project founded by the EU, which aims to support teachers, thereby positively impacting students' learning experiences and overall well-being. The kick-off meeting of the project, held in Zagabria and hosted by OSNOVNA ŠKOLA LOVRE PL. MATAČIĆA at the end of November, marked the starting of collaborative efforts among the six project partners, from Italy, Greece; Cyprus; Spain and Croatia. Follow us and stay tuned! #UPWELL, #ErasmusPlus, #training, #school, #multiculturalism, #schoolwellbeing, #teacherswellbeing, #inclusiveschool
