I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve successfully completed the Tech Stewardship for Energy Transition program! 🎉 This experience has been transformative, deepening my understanding of how we can shape technology to address the critical challenges of today—particularly as we transition towards a sustainable energy future. 🌍⚡ Through this program, I gained insights into balancing innovation with ethical, social, and environmental considerations. It’s been an incredible journey to reflect on how we, as professionals, can be intentional in creating lasting, positive impacts in the energy and mining sectors. A special thanks to Mark Abbott, P.Eng. for his guidance throughout this journey. Your insights and commitment to fostering a mindset of responsible innovation have truly inspired me. The energy transition isn’t just about adopting new technologies; it’s about ensuring these advancements align with our collective goals for sustainability, equity, and resilience. As someone deeply passionate about sustainable mining and resource optimization, this program has equipped me to take an active role in shaping a better future. Thank you to everyone who made this learning experience possible and to my peers who brought valuable perspectives to the discussions. Here’s to being a tech steward in every step of our journey toward sustainable progress! 🌱💡 #TechStewardship #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #MiningInnovation #ContinuousLearning #sertifier #digitalbadge #digitalcertificate #digitalcredentials #stewardship #reflectivepractice #leadership #energytechnology #appliedethics

The AI Stewardship Practice pilot program from Tech Stewardship is an exceptional program that really digs deep into the value tensions of AI for good and what is the potential and what are the tensions. Thanks Mark Abbott, P.Eng. and the whole team hosting this and to Alex Tveit for looping me into this shared learning journey. In one of the sessions it unpacks the AI Specific Tensions and I thought they worth sharing for those exploring your journey towards responsible and equitable AI. AI Specific Tensions ● Can We Do It AND Should We Do It: Advancing AI while questioning the ethical implications of our actions. ● Acceleration AND Deceleration: Balancing the pace of AI innovation with caution to manage its long-term effects on society. ● Revolution AND Evolution: Embracing transformative AI potential while ensuring stable, ethical integration into society. ● Bias AND Fairness: Designing AI to maximize equitable outcomes while addressing inherent biases in data and algorithms. ● Innovation AND Regulation: Driving technological advancement within frameworks that protect users and society. ● Access AND Equality: Expanding technology access while addressing social and economic inequalities. ● Automation AND Employment: Leveraging automation to enhance productivity and create meaningful new job opportunities. ● Data Ownership AND Open Data: Balancing proprietary data rights with the potential for shared innovation through open data. https://lnkd.in/g_AxBUYR #futures #transformation #emergingtech #AI #valuetensions #responsibleAI #equitableAI #systems #dataownership #ethicalAI

  • Check out this excellent article by our friend Katie Gibson, who lays out a great argument for why non-profit leaders need to "jump into the (AI policy) fray" and some practical steps of how to do so.

"AI policy-making is happening right now. And it’s happening everywhere. Not just on the floor of the House of Commons, but in your local police force and public-school board." Katie Gibson, senior fellow at The Dais at Toronto Metropolitan University explains why we need more, and more diverse, non-profits bringing their perspectives to the AI policy process and how to get started. https://lnkd.in/euHMhNgS

  • We are excited to announce the pilot of a new AI Stewardship Practice Program! The pilot is focused on professionals and grad students who are already actively engaging with artificial intelligence (AI). The experience will be a small cohort engaging in a six-week guided journey to introduce stewardship practice with a focus on AI. A central focus of the program will be appreciating a diverse range of perspectives, which includes those of researchers, entrepreneurs, adopters, creators, educators, policymakers, and advocates. If you’ve already completed our base Tech Stewardship Practice Program (TSPP), this will be an excellent opportunity to deepen your stewardship practice and apply it to AI.  The pilot launches next week and a limited number of spots are still available. So if you’re interested, register today! https://lnkd.in/g5FmKhrC #AIStewardship, #TechStewardship, #AI, #ArtificialIntelligence, #ResponsibleAI, #AIforGood
