About us
Technovation is a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls to become leaders, creators, and problem-solvers. Its alumnae have gone on to win startup and app-building competitions, speak at events like TEDx Women, IBM India Onward, and Google Science Fair, be named Times Kid of the Year, and receive internships with prominent technology companies, higher education institutions and government agencies. Founded in 2006 by aerospace engineer Tara Chklovski as Iridescent, Technovation has grown from hosting local Family Science nights in Los Angeles to a nonprofit that spans 100+ countries with thousands of individuals who believe in the power of girls, families, and communities to change the world with technology.

Whether the Chapter has been around for years or is brand new to Technovation, we are always impressed when partnerships like this give girls an opportunity to see STEM role models in real life!
Right now, Technovation chapters around the world (we see you Teen-Turn) are hosting kick off events, boot camps and collaborating with amazing partners. Teams of girls are discovering a network of support ready to help make their community-centered solutions come to life. Keep it up!
The Technovation vision subscribes to the belief that, "supported by a network of mentors, ambassadors (us, that's us, #TeenTurn), and volunteers (we see you PayPal Ireland), girls can shape the future." Today's midterm app development bootcamp fieldtrip is all about Technovation's #PowerToTheGirl campaign, where we all "believe girls have the power to change the world...because every year, thousands of them do, by choosing to solve problems in their communities with technology." Thank you to our hosts and the team who made it possible! #PayPalCommunityImpact David Thornton Siobhan Grogan Maria O'Toole and Laura Scully

Here's to making technology transformational!
Empowering people to integrate ESG, Sustainability and Diversity into Business Strategy. Board member
💭When I visited Brazil, I was proud to hear my 10-year-old niece talk about her dream of becoming an engineer and solving big problems. But it also made me pause when she hesitated whether she could make it happen. Unfortunately, this is something many people, especially girls, feel when thinking about careers in tech and engineering. 💡The World Economic Forum Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2025 calls out the growing skills gap, with 2/3 of companies struggling to find the talent they need. And with AI rapidly changing the landscape, 66% of experts predict it will have a major impact on cybersecurity in the next year. 🌍That’s why initiatives like Technovation are crucial - they’re helping to prepare the talent pool by empowering girls to dive into tech and tackle real-world problems. To make technology transformational, we all have a role to play—whether through mentoring, offering guidance, or providing support. ✨And for women entrepreneurs, don’t forget to apply for the Bayer Foundation Award by February 18th—an excellent opportunity to leave your mark on the world. This is a crucial time to shape a successful future for all, including organizations. #technology #innovation #leadership

TAIFA partners are setting the standard.
Technological innovation alone cannot solve humanity's greatest challenges. At the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, we take a human-centered approach. Working closely with those at the frontlines of vulnerability, we combine technological innovation with human values and community ownership to develop and deploy solutions to serve the common good. We're paving a new way of thinking about technology—not for profit, but for purpose. Through strategic investment, technical expertise, and collaborative partnership, we're in pursuit of our core purpose: to create sustainable, thriving, equitable futures for all in our digital world. l'm still on cloud nine after attending the Technovation2025 launch as a Club Ambassador. I've had the privilege of being part of the Technovation community as a participant, and even though I've aged out, my passion for empowering girls in tech only grew stronger. Now, as a mentor, I get to pay it forward and support the next generation of change-makers. Technovation has been more than just a program to me - it's been a journey of self-discovery, growth, and transformation. It's helped me develop leadership skills, confidence, and a voice that I never knew I had! But what really got me emotional was watching this incredible journey video that my mentor edited It's a reminder of the late nights, early mornings, and countless hours of hard work that my team and I put in. Watching it brought back so many memories and left me and my team members speechless. To every girl who's just starting out, Don't be afraid to take the leap, to challenge yourself, and to own your space! Here's to another amazing year of technovation #technovation #technovationgirlschallenge #technology Technovation Tara Chklovski Amy Eernisse-Liang Maryam Bello

"Mentoring is essential and transformative, especially for first-generation students who often lack access to professional networks or role models. At Technovation, their approach is rooted in Bandura’s self-efficacy theory, which highlights the importance of role models, meaningful experiences and high expectations."
