In support of Manufacturing Week, our team in Sarepta, Louisiana, hosted a group of students from Lakeside High School. Their visit began with a company and facility overview presentation from Jodee Eason and Todd Rasbury, with a special focus on the materials the facility uses and the parts produced there. Following the presentation, the students were split into two groups to tour the facility with Rasbury, Jalon Montgomery and Latavia White serving as tour guides. #manufacturing #careers #lightweighting #composites

When it came to participating in a local trunk or treat event, a group from our Teijin Automotive North Baltimore, Ohio, facility really put on a display. With a Hocus Pocus theme, and a Jeep Gladiator with the roof and freedom panels they manufacture at North Baltimore for their “trunk”, the Teijin Automotive stop was the place to be! The Quality Department, consisting of Estelle Lachner, Bethany Cramer and Emily Miller, selected this holiday for their community involvement and came up with the theme and all the decorations. Mohamed Al-Zakwani, engineering manager, let them use his Gladiator to show off the spooky JT hardtop they created. Other team members, including Plant Manager John DeMarsh, helped with the setup and teardown.

Last week, I had the opportunity to ride along in this beautiful Ford Motor Company Bronco Raptor with MichAuto’s Glenn Stevens as we toured the West Virginia country-side on our way to a conference. Don’t let this beast’s beautifully intimidating looks fool you! It was a very comfortable ride, very capable in the mountain terrain, and got a lot of attention everywhere we went. Note that the uniquely flared fenders and hood that make this a Raptor are made possible by composites – compounded and molded by Teijin Automotive Technologies.

Today is Manufacturing Day, kicking off a month-long series when more than 1,600 manufacturers and schools across the country host job expos and presentations, open houses, shop floor tours and other creative events designed to reshape perceptions and inspire the next generation of the manufacturing workforce. This day is a critical step in introducing young people to the opportunities that exist in manufacturing. The National Association of Manufacturers - NAM estimates that the need for new employees in manufacturing could be around 3.8 million between 2024 and 2033. Around half of these open jobs (1.9 million) could remain unfulfilled. Each year, Teijin Automotive facilities host groups of students in support of Manufacturing Day.
