  • “I think 2025 is the year to start cascading your net zero target into more specific action areas. If you have a 30% reduction target for your Scope 3 emissions, if you cascade that now across your different procurement categories, steel, aluminum, plastics, food, is it 30% for each of those categories or is it some other number? How are you cascading your target to a more operational part of your business?” Super excited for our Co-Founder and COO, Will Glazener, to be on the latest episode of the Scope 3 Peer Group podcast ("The Scope 3 Podcast") with Tom Idle, Oliver Hurrey, and Giulia Usai of GSK. https://lnkd.in/eFMvhqvy Listen to this episode to learn more about how our platform is helping procurement teams achieve real reductions in supply chain emissions by empowering teams to turn carbon tracking into actionable change. • It's official—Terralytiq is now featured on the PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency) website! We're proud to join the #PACT network, offering solutions that generate standardized Product Carbon Footprints (#PCFs) to facilitate seamless carbon data exchange between companies at the product level. This milestone is not just a big step for us, but for the entire industry. Standardizing carbon data exchange between customers and suppliers is crucial for evaluating emissions and driving meaningful decarbonization actions. We're thrilled to be part of this initiative and grateful to everyone who made it possible. As of today, you can now find Terralytiq in the PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency) network, joining as the platform for industrial manufacturing. PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency) is a network of companies taking bold climate action. We joined to help practitioners shift away from spend-based accounting and use product-level emissions for supply chain decarbonization. The power of the network is in exchanging PCFs across buyers and suppliers at speed and scale - letting software do what it's good at. We're proud to contribute our expertise in decarbonization and sustainable procurement to raise the bar on PCFs, so that procurement can use them in their ultimate form: the unit price of sustainability.

  • Decarbonizing your supply chain is cheaper than you might think... and your customers will barely feel it. Think #supplychain #decarbonization is too expensive? It’s not. The added cost to consumers for zero-carbon products like cars, fridges, or pumps? In many cases less than 5% That’s less than the price swings from inflation or a dealership discount. The real hurdle isn’t consumers—it’s the raw material bottleneck in the supply chain, where costs spike due to big-ticket investments like iron furnaces or new technologies in aluminum production. But here’s the good news: smart procurement teams can solve this by spreading costs and making decarbonization scalable. Businesses have an opportunity to lead, not lag. Let’s ditch the “too expensive” excuse and focus on action. Thanks, Will Glazener, for spotlighting this reality. It’s time to make supply chain decarbonization business as usual!

Supply chain decarbonization doesn't cost that much. That conclusion was just published again in the 2024 net-zero industry tracker by World Economic Forum, same as in the 2020 making mission possible report by Energy Transitions Commission. One reason sustainability programs are stuck in carbon accounting is that cost discussions appear even more intimidating. But peel back the layers and it's just not the case. For one, I anchor that it's not a problem for consumers to solve. In fact, it's a great opportunity for business to solve. You would never feel the cost as a consumer for about 40% of global decarbonization. For the industrial sectors, the price of emissions-free steel, aluminum, and plastics is 1-3% higher by the time the car, fridge, pump, and final product is bought. Far less than the fluctuations of inflation, black friday deals, dealership negotiations, and pretty-please discounts. The B2B sticking point is that there is 1 point in the supply chain where the unit cost is 40-70% higher & largely caused by capex. It's usually the raw material producer. Think iron furnace, cement kiln, and steam cracker operators. Less so aluminum, who is forced to pay tech-giant premiums on renewable electricity opex. That's a real interface with real challenges. Every time I meet with suppliers, they say the same thing. They need customers who want to discussion commercial solutions, not measurement problems. That's what project financing, offtake agreements, and other carbon-based contracting is for. Procurement teams are good at spreading expensive upfront costs into cheap unit costs. When you want to reduce the cost of decarbonization, procurement teams beat the best offsets/insets/credits program every day of the week. As we get further into the transition, I look forward to normalizing cost discussions as a regular part of doing business, sustainably. And the 2028 report from a different think tank with same conclusion yet again - hopefully with more electrification and less hydrogen routes to zero-carbon products!

  • Many companies working on their Scope 3 emissions are frustrated by the challenges of obtaining accurate and consistent Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) from their suppliers. Suppliers, especially the smaller ones, often struggle with limited capacity, inconsistent requests from customers, and a lack of standardized tools. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Terralytiq bridges the gap. Our platform empowers suppliers to deliver robust, high-quality PCFs easily and reliably—helping them to meet customer expectations and build trust. We also enable recipients of such PCFs to sense-check quickly and spot inconsistencies and questionable data. We’re proud to be certified with PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency), ensuring transparency and consistency in emissions data. Interested in learning more? On a mission to remove one billion tons of CO2 emissions from industrial supply chains by 2030 / Co-Founder & CEO of Terralytiq / Father of two daughters & Husband of a wonderful wife / Techstars_ 2024 / ex-McKinsey

My SUPPLIERS are INCOMPETENT ... ... ... Granted - most #Scope3 practitioners don't put it quite as harsh as that, but one of the things we here very often is that many of their #suppliers struggle to provide accurate and consistent carbon data (#PCFs) for the products they sell. Its not surprising - many suppliers are small and have limited capacity and capability to calculate high-quality PCFs for their products. On top of that, they get asked by almost every customer to deliver data in a different format. It doesn't have to be that way - there are things the requestor and recipient of a PCF can do to make live of their suppliers easier and to sense-check PCFs when they arrive. For suppliers on the other hand - delivering robust PCFs can be easy and reliable with the right platform (for instance Terralytiq which recently achieved certification with PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency)). Reach out to me if you want to learn more or book a demo with #Terralytiq. #Scope3 #PCFs #emissions #PACT
