🎉 Meet our Team! 🎉 BLUEBIO ALLIANCE is a Portuguese network that encompasses all subsectors of the marine bioresources value chain in Portugal. This network includes raw material producers, research and development units, biotech small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), transformation centers and manufacturers, public sector entities, support companies, and developers of final consumer products. BLUEBIO ALLIANCE aims at collectively organizing this value chain, to foster its relations and dynamics, leveraging its SMEs’ growth and accelerating their internationalization by increasing their outreach and exportations, leading to more jobs and value creation for Portugal. In the TexMaTer project, the BLUEBIO ALLIANCE is responsible for leading the Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation work package. Textile Manufacturing
TexMaTer - Retrieving novel TEXtile solutions from MArine and TERrestrial biomass
About us
TexMaTer project aims to minimise the environmental impact of the textile and clothing industry through the search of new sustainable fibres and novel bioformulations for textile finishing processes. This will lead to reduced dependence on synthetic fibres, virgin cotton, and wood-based man-made cellulosic fibres, as well as the use of fossil-based chemical finishing formulations. Ultimately TexMaTer seeks to promote regional and innovative bioeconomies through regenerative and locally sustainable production of alternative bio-based fibres. It also focuses on implementing territorial solutions to promote sustainability and circular practices within the fashion and home textiles industry. The consortium includes: • 16 partners (13 beneficiaries and 3 associated partners) • 4 European countries (Portugal, France, Italy, Finland) • 2 non-EU countries (Switzerland and Faroe Islands) Budget: 4 873 448,97 euros Project starting date: 1 September 2024 Project end date: 31 August 2028 Project duration: 48 months Grant agreement no 1011135502 HORIZON-CL6-2023-CIRCBIO-02-2

Meet our logo! 🌊 🌾 The TexMaTer logo combines natural richness and technological progress to support sustainability. It was inspired by two raw materials – marine ecosystems (illustrated by algae) and agriculture biomass (illustrated by rice straw). The circular shape evokes the life cycle concept, alluding to the transition to a circular economy, where each phase of production and consumption is part of a closed, regenerative system. Kickoff meeting: 23 and 24 September! During two days, the consortium gathered at CITEVE to collaborate on developing novel cellulosic fibres and bioformulations for textile finishing using waste from agricultural practices, algae production, and post-consumer home textiles. The meeting included presentations from work package leaders, visits to CITEVE's laboratories and recycling structures, as well as visits to the industrial facilities of JFAlmeida and Mi Casa Es Tu Casa. There were also plenty of networking opportunities and opportunities to get to know each other better! Stay tuned on TexMaTer project!
