Professor Richard Pring was a world-renowned education philosopher, inspiring educator, and a wonderful person. I am greatly saddened to hear about his passing, which was announced by Prof. Alis Oancea on the Department of Education, University of Oxford website: https://lnkd.in/gHxyeefa I was honoured to get to know Professor Pring during my time at the University of Oxford. I remember the incredible seminars he held in the historic Old Philosophy Library at the University Church in Oxford and his lecture in the House of Lords in 2016. I think back fondly to our conversations. He was always kind and shared his knowledge and insights with passion and humour. It was a great honour to interview Professor Pring on my podcast. Before I had published my first episode, Professor Pring generously agreed to be interviewed. We went to his favourite pub in Oxford, The Rose and Crown on North Parade, where we sat down for lunch and recorded the interview. We discussed the role of schooling in education, with Professor Pring weaving together insights from history, philosophy, policy and his own experiences as a teacher. As with every conversation or lecture by Professor Pring, I learned a lot and was inspired to have a positive impact on education.
