Updates

  • A new report from the ILO, IUCN, and UNEP reveals that targeted investments in nature-based solutions (NbS) could generate up to 32 million jobs globally by 2030. Currently employing 60 million people, NbS focus on restoring and managing ecosystems to address environmental challenges. The report emphasizes the potential for job growth in Africa, Latin America, and the Arab States, where NbS employment could rise from 2.5 million to over 13 million. However, scaling up NbS requires bridging skills gaps, promoting inclusivity, and integrating green-grey infrastructure for climate resilience. Policymakers are urged to strengthen frameworks and invest in workforce development to realize NbS's full potential for combating climate change and biodiversity loss while fostering decent work opportunities.

  • A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM JOHN MORALES: “As a meteorologist, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of climate change every day. Reporting on Hurricane Milton this year brought me to tears—it was a stark reminder of what’s at stake. That’s why I’m proud to serve on The CLEO Institute’s board. CLEO is leading the fight for climate education and community resilience, but they can’t do it alone. Join me in supporting CLEO’s vital mission before the year ends.” Donate today with the link below!👇 https://lnkd.in/exhEeCfR John Morales
