Last week, Pres/CEO David Zak attended the incredible ED411 event put on by One Columbus. Not only were the keynote speakers Kevin Ervin Kelley, AIA and Peter Goodwin from the The New York Times amazing, the entire Columbus region was on full display with unreasonable hospitality, celebrating success and pushing for more. Some people are attracted to beautiful people, others to the ultra-wealthy and famous, but I'm drawn to great thinkers who can make sense of the world. One of those great explainers for me is Peter S. Goodman, the global economic correspondent for The New York Times. As a regular guest on The Daily Show podcast and major broadcast outlets like CBS News and Stations, CNN, the BBC, and MSNBC, Mr. Goodman writes about the intersection of economics and geopolitics, with an emphasis on the consequences for ordinary people like me. He is particularly interested in the causes and implications of widening inequality, the promises and challenges of the green energy transition, and the future of work. Lately, he has focused on the future of globalization in the context of trade animosities between the United States and China. Mr. Goodman has authored three award-winning books: HOW THE WORLD RAN OUT OF EVERYTHING: Inside the Global Supply Chain, DAVOS MAN: How the Billionaires Devoured the World, and PAST DUE: The End of Easy Money and the Renewal of the American Economy. I never imagined meeting Peter S. Goodman in person, much less sharing a stage with him. Nor did I ever think I'd see my new book, IRREPLACEABLE, anywhere near his masterpieces.
