Around the world, companies are increasingly turning to project-based work to meet the demands of their markets. This emerging trend looks like it will continue to rise for 2025, and many years thereafter. How can you leverage project-based IT work to your advantage? The key is to successfully hire and manage a workforce that will deliver high-quality outcomes. Here are a few steps you can take to ensure this happens: -Define project requirements clearly. Not only will this help you identify the right talent, but it will also attract the right candidates to your job postings. -Choose the right talent model. Depending on the needs of your project, there are several models from which to choose: contract, contract-to-hire, nearshore, offshore, etc. Carefully select the one that makes the most sense for your situation. -Establish clear communication channels. Once you've hired your project-based team, make sure they have clear communication guidelines to follow: preferred communication platforms, direct reports and points of contact, and so forth. -Set milestones for success. Define your project milestones, as well as any key deadlines that must be met. This will keep your team productive and aligned with project goals. We learned key takeaways from CTA's 2024 Tech Industry Report, connected with new and familiar faces in the Colorado tech community, and celebrated the recognition of this year's awards nominees. Other key takeaways include: -The tech industry directly accounts for 10 percent of Colorado’s employment and 20 percent of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP)! -One job created in the tech industry supports another 2.67 jobs in the state economy. -Over the last five years, the tech industry added 47,440 net new jobs, the most jobs added by any major industry in the state. -The total tech industry is predicted to grow at a rate of 11.5 percent in the next five years. This is the 5th highest projected rate in the nation. -Colorado ranked 5th in the US in venture capital funding rates from 2018 to 2023. -Colorado's tech industry contributes over $106 billion in gross state product (GSP), which is 20% of the state's total economic output. -The average earnings per worker in Colorado's tech industry is $165,500 (#6 highest wage across the country!)
