  • Resume Gaps: A Changing Landscape for Job Seekers and Hiring Managers For years, resume gaps were seen as red flags for hiring managers. However, the job market is evolving, and today, a break in employment is no longer a dealbreaker the same way it once was. A recent survey by Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll found that 95% of hiring managers recognize there are valid reasons for career gaps, whether it's taking time to care for family, address health concerns, or pursue education. Yet, while the stigma is fading, candidates should still be ready to explain those gaps with honesty and transparency. Here’s what hiring managers and job seekers need to keep in mind: -Valid Reasons Matter: Career gaps for life events like caring for a child or returning to school are seen as legitimate, while switching careers or losing passion for a job may still face pushback. -Skill Relevance is Key: Hiring managers may hesitate if they believe a long break has caused a skills gap. For roles with rapid technological change, candidates should show how they've stayed current. -Don't Hide the Gap: Candidates who try to cover up gaps risk damaging their credibility. Being upfront can make all the difference. -Hiring Managers Should Stay Open: Overlooking candidates with gaps might mean missing out on exceptional talent. If the skills and cultural fit are right, it’s worth taking a closer look. At The Doyle Group we’re here to help IT professionals bridge those gaps and get back on track with exciting career opportunities. Whether you're a hiring manager looking for talent or a candidate re-entering the workforce, we can support your journey! #career #hiring #doylegrouptech

  • Monday Motivation! Is overcoming procrastination one of your 2025 goals? Check out these 6 techniques that will ensure your success! Time management and prioritization can make or break your success in business and in your personal life. One of the toughest challenges for professionals and business owners is confronting the tasks they dislike or feel unable to control. Whether it's networking for mentors, developing a business strategy, or navigating the complexities of hiring and developing your team, these tasks often lead to procrastination. In her book "Work Less, Do More," Jan Yager identifies procrastination as a significant barrier to effective time management. She explains how being overly busy with less important tasks can blind us to what truly matters for our success. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your to-do list, you’re not alone. Try these six techniques to help conquer procrastination: -Plan Your Daily Activities in Advance: Tackle the task you’re avoiding first thing each day. Don’t waste precious time checking emails or scrolling through social media. Complete a priority task first, then reward yourself with a break or some enjoyable low-priority work. -Set Up a Personal Reward System: Identify a reward that genuinely motivates you. After finishing a challenging task, treat yourself to something you’ve been putting off, like a round of golf or a favorite meal. -Try Creative Procrastination: If your top priority feels too daunting, shift your focus to the second or third most important items on your list. This allows you to make progress without becoming overwhelmed. -Arrange for Gaps in Your Schedule: Build free time into your schedule to ensure you can complete priority projects without feeling pressured. This can help you avoid self-criticism and maintain a positive mindset. -Face the Truth Head-On: Reflect on why you’re delaying a task. What benefits does procrastination provide? Identify a concrete deadline and consider whether it’s time to delegate the task to someone else on your team. -Define a Period Without Distractions: Resolve to minimize interruptions by turning off your phone or closing your office door for the first hour of your workday. Use this focused time to tackle your priority tasks without distractions. Start implementing these strategies today and pave the way for a more successful future! #timemanagement #procrastination #doylegrouptech

  • Earlier this week, we celebrated the annual The Doyle Group holiday party at Coohills in Denver! We were joined by over 100 clients, consultants and supporters from our network! This year, we recognized and awarded a "Leader of the Year," "Consultant of the Year," and "DG Teammate of the Year." Each person was nominated by folks who work closely with them each day. The Leader of the Year was someone who communicates openly, sets clear expectations for their team, offers guidance and mentorship to help you succeed and is proactive in resolving challenges and supporting your growth. The Consultant of the criteria was someone who demonstrates expertise and delivers high-quality results, consistently aligns with the company’s goals and culture, communicates effectively and proactively solves challenges, and embodies professionalism and reliability. And DG Teammate of the Year nominations were for a Doyle Group employee who provides timely and clear communication, demonstrates transparency and integrity in every interaction, and is consistently dependable. Congratulations to Carole Hill for receiving the Leader of the Year Award! To Carol McEvoy for Consultant of the Year! And Taylor Wicke for DG Teammate of the Year! The tech hiring market is constantly evolving, shaped by emerging technologies, shifting economic conditions, and an ever-changing demand for specialized skills. This dynamic environment presents both challenges and opportunities for job seekers and company leaders alike. Whether navigating talent shortages, exploring new hiring strategies, or addressing the rise of remote work, understanding the current landscape is crucial for staying competitive in the tech industry. What are some key insights you should know about the current state of the market? Here are a few to consider: -The technology sector has a significantly lower unemployment rate than the overall U.S. job market. As of September 2024, the unemployment rate for the United States remained at 4.1%, while the rate for tech jobs continues to hover between 1.5% to 2.2% (depending on specific roles). -Many (but not all) companies are hiring or getting ready to hire. According to a recent survey we conducted, 41% of companies are temporarily pausing their hiring process for tech jobs. However, 24% are actively hiring for several open roles, 18% are hiring for selected positions, and 18% are not currently hiring, but are planning to start soon. -Hiring managers are looking for candidates who can help them achieve digital transformation. AI integration and data cleanup are two major focus areas for many organizations. -A majority of Fortune 500 companies are offering hybrid work arrangements. 82% of Fortune 500 companies are currently allowing employees to work a hybrid schedule — i.e., come into the office a few days a week, but work remotely the rest of the time.
