About us

About Dubai Dragons RFC – Senior & Junior Rugby and Netball Founded in 1992, Dubai Dragons RFC is a proud, non-profit sports club that has been at the heart of Dubai’s rugby community for over 30 years. We provide a welcoming space for expats and locals to experience a sense of family while living in Dubai. With a legacy of success, our Senior Dragons section fields three men’s teams competing in the UAE Premiership 1st and 2nd divisions, and we proudly enter 5 teams into the Dubai Sevens every year. Our Junior Dragons Rugby and Junior DragonFlies Netball sections offer comprehensive programs for children of all ages, creating a fun and engaging environment where they can build skills, make friends, and embrace the values of teamwork and respect. DragonFlies Netball works in affiliation with an established Dubai-based netball club, providing even greater opportunities for youth development in both rugby and netball. At Dubai Dragons RFC, it’s about more than just the game – it’s about fostering community, sportsmanship, and creating a home away from home. We invite everyone, from seasoned rugby players to beginners, to join the Dragons family!

Soft skills aren’t taught—they’re lived. 🏉 Watching my daughter play rugby, I reflected on the power of experiential learning. The positive mindset of her coaches is building our children’s emotional intelligence in action. FIRE—the ethos of the Dragons RFC team—teaches kids more than just rugby: 🔥F – Fun: Joy fuels growth. Rugby becomes exciting through engaging activities that ensure every player experiences the sheer joy of the game. 🔥I – Imagination: Creativity drives success. Players are encouraged to think outside the box, take risks, devise strategies, and tackle challenges with innovative solutions. 🔥R – Resilience: Mistakes are opportunities. Players learn to overcome setbacks, support teammates, and grow stronger together. 🔥E – Effort: Hard work matters. Commitment to the team and showing sportsmanship on and off the pitch are at the heart of every practice and match. Big thanks to Coaches Brad Janes, Kyle Browne, and Jonny Harris for instilling these powerful values in the next generation! ❤️ The lessons from the rugby field echo what I witness during equine-guided experiential coaching. 🐎 Just like on the pitch, teams learn best by doing—building #trust, #creativity, and #resilience in ways that leave a lasting impact. Do you agree? Let me know ⬇️

This time last week, the Emirates Dubai 7s was about to kick off, and honestly, I don’t think there’s a better three days in Dubai. It’s such a good reminder of why moving here and starting expat life was the best decision I’ve ever made. The Dragons RFC are on a drive to support men’s mental health in the UAE, which is something I really care about and want to help make a difference in. It was awesome to meet the guys at LooseHeadz and see the great work they’re doing in this space. I know there are some great initiatives planned for 2025! Being there for your mates is so important, but I reckon it’s just as important for men to understand how they’re feeling and figure out ways to look after themselves when things aren’t great. Knowing what’s going on with yourself is a massive step toward feeling better. It is time for men to start educating themselves on how to deal with how they feel! What a weekend with some of my best mates, proudly representing the mighty Dragons Supa3s! Can’t wait to do it all again next year.

My favourite jersey presentation yet! ⚡ I’ve been lucky to pull on a lot of rugby jerseys since I started playing, but Jersey #12 is really special, with a lot of meaning behind it. Yesterday, Great Britain Rugby 7s presented the Heroes of Hope Rugby Team with their first-ever rugby jerseys, marking what I believe is the first POD (People of Determination) rugby team in the GCC. I don’t think the coach is usually meant to get a jersey... but nevertheless, I’m super grateful to Hollie Murphy for getting one made for me! Heroes of Hope is a unique organisation, made up of an incredible group of people. Coaching their rugby team and working with these players has been such a privilege. Seeing their hard work recognised by Team GB and their partners, ActiveOps, was a special moment. Rugby is a sport for everyone and inclusion is what it does best. To top it off, the Heroes got to showcase their brand-new jerseys in front of the Sports Matters attendees this morning. Middle East Sports Business Network put on a really great morning and it was nice to catch up with a lot of familiar faces. (BRANDED) Hopefully this time next year we will have more positive news to share at Sports Matters 2.0 and now the Heros have their shirts... hopefully some rugby planned for them at Emirates Dubai 7s! 👀

It’s official! St. James's Place – Asia & Middle East are the new main sponsor for The Dragons RFC's Mini & Youth! 🏉🐉 For the past three years, I’ve been on a mission to grow Junior Dragons Rugby, and I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our generous sponsors. At Dragons, we’re dedicated to building a quality experience that’s accessible to all children in Dubai while remaining 100% non-for-profit. Sponsorships like this from St. James’s Place enable us to make that vision a reality, ensuring that rugby continues to thrive in our little community. When the opportunity arose for St. James’s Place to support the club, I jumped at it! A huge thank you to Scott Kerr for working alongside me on this. I’m especially excited about what we’ll achieve together in this exciting new chapter for the Junior Dragons. #DragonsRugby #MiniRugby #StJamesPlace #YouthRugby #Sponsorship

  • Today is World Mental Health Day 🌍🧠—something many of us often set aside. But it’s so important to give it the attention it deserves. At Dragons, we’re proud to affiliate with LooseHeadz a UK-based men’s mental health charity. Their mission? To place a mental health lead in every club worldwide. All you need to know right now is that there’s always someone here for you if you need help. It’s important to educate yourself on how to cope with tough times and what you can do to feel better. If you’re one of the lads/ladies thinking, “I’ve never experienced poor mental health,” You never know when life might take an unexpected turn, and you feel like you’ve lost control. We’re all in this together 🐉💚. To the entire Dubai rugby community: let’s stand strong, support each other, and be there when it matters most. #WorldMentalHealthDay #DragonsRugby #LooseHeadz #DubaiRugby #MentalHealthMatters #RugbyFamily
