I finally learned why Rx Drugs often have odd names during the The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. luncheon today when David M. Rubenstein interviewed David A. Ricks, the CEO of Eli Lilly and Company. Ricks explained that the Rx name can’t be similar to another Rx name, to avoid confusion; and it can’t be in English, or an English variation, given the global reach. In fact, the WHO (World Health Organization) is one of two organizations that must approve Rx drug names. Always nice to have lunch with David and his guests - I appreciate being a ECW member deeply! Here’s to more excellent guests in 2025.

Enjoyed David Rubenstein’s interview of Dave Ricks at the The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. today. Eli Lilly and Company is investing in research at the scale of large nations, over $8B in 2024. And return for shareholders has been phenomenal with enormous gains for Lilly Endowment which is then being reinvested across the State of Indiana. We are proud to be working on several projects which have benefited from Lilly grants and that will spur further economic development in Indiana. Ancora L&G has over $300mm in planned investments across the state and in partnership with some of Indiana’s premier Universities over the next 2 years. #placebasedinnovation #indiana
