Connecting consumers to their community by sharing the must-know information about their city
About us
The Go-To is a digital media company connecting consumers to their communities in an engaging and up to date way through social media, newsletters and websites. Our goal: engage and educate the community to instill civic pride. The Go-To Winston-Salem began in 2021 shortly after the owner, Christy, moved to and fell in love with Winston-Salem. She saw a need for a resource that kept individuals in the loop about their community. A year later, The Go-To expanded to Greensboro for the same purpose - to connect those living in and around the city to news, businesses, and local information. We strive to create content that is engaging, informative, and relevant. We engage the populations of Greensboro and Winston-Salem through a conversational tone and meet them where they are - online.

🚨GOVERNOR ROY COOPER visited Winston-Salem today! WHY: Governor Cooper attended the groundbreaking ceremony for phase 1 of the Salem Parkway Multi-Use Path, which will connect the Winston-Salem Strollway to Liberty Street. CEREMONY: The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Mayor Allen Joines. It took place in front of the Green Street Pedestrian Bridge at 11 AM. WHY IT MATTERS: This will connect the city with more trails and walkways, which is a step in the right direction toward achieving the city’s Downtown Plan connectivity goal. LOOKING AHEAD: Phase 2 of the project is under design and will extend the path from W Fourth Street to Lockland Ave Avenue, ultimately connecting the Winston-Salem Strollway to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

🌳 The Piedmont Land Conservancy was recently gifted 127 acres of historic farmland in Forsyth County that will become the Bashavia Creek Preserve. ➡️ The Background: When 127 acres of land near Pfafftown went up for sale in December 2023, Drs. Peter and Ann Weigl were concerned that the land would become a new housing development. The couple, who had lived near the land for nearly 50 years, bought and gifted the land to the Piedmont Land Conservancy (PLC) to prevent its development. ➡️ Why it matters: This area in Pfafftown is experiencing growth due to Winston-Salem’s planned Northern Beltway. What could have been a new development is now preserved greenspace for generations. https://lnkd.in/eWGpxaE3
