Waynesburg Staff Mentors Students Over the years, MSG's Waynesburg, PA team (previously the WallacePancher Group) has built a strong relationship with Kevin Willis, a chemistry and conservation biology teacher at Carmichaels High School, located about 10 minutes from our Waynesburg Office. Mr. Willis serves as the advisor for the school’s Envirothon Team, which participates in an annual competition testing high school students’ knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management. Under his guidance, the team has achieved significant success, including a 6th-place finish in the state competition this year. Mr. Willis occasionally reaches out to us for assistance with demonstrating sampling methodologies or providing guidance on fish and macroinvertebrate identification. Earlier this year, he requested our support in demonstrating electrofishing, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, and identification techniques for his students. Christopher Ross and Wes Reichard from our Waynesburg Office recently conducted an electrofishing demonstration for a group of students, which proved to be an engaging and informative experience. Giving back to the development of these young people is particularly meaningful for Chris, as a former student of Mr. Willis and a past participant on his Envirothon Team. Ohio Department of Transportation is currently studying a portion of State Route 7 along the Ohio River referred to as Logistics Lane. The project seeks to improve connectivity and safety for existing businesses and users, and promote future development South of the City of Marietta between Veto Road and Blue Knob Road. This section of State Route 7, and the adjoining roadway network, provide direct access to primarily industrial and manufacturing businesses vital to the local economy. MSG is providing planning and design services, including the identification of a recommended preferred alternative for the project. The ODOT and MSG Team held a Public Involvement meeting in Marietta on November 19th. Public comments are due by December 19, 2024. https://lnkd.in/gaaThBpH

This year, MSG offices collected pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) as part of our community engagement initiative. Each office donated tabs to their local Ronald McDonald House, to keep the impact local. The mission of RMHC is to support families with sick children. Several employees shared what a positive impact the Ronald McDonald House had for their families during difficult times in their lives. In total, our employees collected over 175lbs of recyclable aluminum pull tabs and we made a corporate cash donation as well! Our North Canton office also visited their local RMHC to bake cookies for resident families. At Thanksgiving and always, we're thankful for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. #HappyThanksgiving #RonaldMcDonald

On November 22nd, Sally Gladwell will speak at the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana (OKI) Planning Conference in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her discussion will cover the importance of establishing a community-wide vision for post-cleanup redevelopment, which is crucial for securing funding, enhancing community engagement, and achieving the best outcomes. Sally will be joined by Roxanne Anderson, ECI, the Regional Director for the Kansas State University Technical Assistance to Brownfields (KSU TAB) Program and John Morris, the Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator for the Indiana Finance Authority’s Brownfields Program to discuss this topic. Participants will gain insights into the brownfield assessment and redevelopment process, explore programs and resources that aid in planning and community engagement, and learn strategies to overcome redevelopment barriers, such as environmental assessments and liability minimization. By addressing these challenges, communities can transform underutilized properties, attract new purchasers and developers, and ultimately benefit from increased job opportunities and tax revenues. #OKI #Indiana #Brownfields

In Toledo, the clowns kick-off the parade - and the parade kicks off the holiday season! The clowns, marching bands, dancers, and oversized balloons are all a prelude to the main event: Santa Claus! MSG is proud to once again sponsor our own Elizabeth Lopez as a member of the Toledo Distinguished Clown Corps. Liz is one of the select few Balloon Clowns, inflating, tying and twisting balloons into flowers, swords and animals to be cherished by children along the parade route.
