Sharpening one another through reading and sharing together while providing a safe space to tackle issues facing men.

About us

The Men’s Book Breakfast is a unique gathering that assembles men with the following objectives: 1. To share their life and leadership experiences. 2. To engage in mentoring and mutual growth. 3. To inspire and empower men to embrace their roles in society, beginning with their families. 4. To acquire knowledge across various facets of life. Our meeting sessions take place online, and we host four Seasons each year, one per quarter. Each season comprises 5 to 6 one-hour morning meetings (adjusted for different time zones), where participants delve into the discussion of a selected book. While our values are predominantly rooted in the Christian faith, our forum welcomes individuals from diverse faith backgrounds, countries, industry sectors, and life experiences. The forum was initiated by Lawrence Githinji, a figure in the marketplace. To join a season, keep an eye out for sign-up announcements here on LinkedIn and also on Twitter: @TheBookBreakfa1. Day 16 – Growth Happens Outside Your Comfort Zone ✨ "The magic begins where your comfort zone ends." 👉 Reflection/Action – Some of my most rewarding experiences came from moments when I dared to step into the unknown. I’ve always been scared to lead teams and avoided it for a long time. But when I took on the challenge of leading a team with The Men's Book Breakfast ~ The MBB, I learned so much from the experience. It stretched me in ways I didn’t expect and gave me the confidence to embrace things outside my comfort zone. Discomfort often leads to growth—it’s in those moments that we discover our strength and unlock new possibilities. 🛠️ Challenge – Identify one thing that feels a little outside your comfort zone and take a step toward it today. Growth doesn’t happen all at once—it starts with a single step. 💬 Engagement – What’s one time you stepped out of your comfort zone and found growth? Share your story—it might inspire someone to take their leap! #36LifeLessons #EmbraceTheUncomfortable #GrowthMindset

Reflections on a Year with The Men's Book Breakfast ~ The MBB Last year, I joined the Men’s Book Breakfast (MBB) after a friend recommended it—and what a transformative experience it has been! I attended all four cohorts and read some truly impactful books that shaped my thinking and leadership: Hans Rosling's "Factfulness" reminded us that the world isn’t as bad as we often think. Focusing on facts over fear gives us a more hopeful, data-driven perspective on global progress. Zero to One by Peter Thiel encouraged us to think beyond competition and aim to build something unique — businesses that go from zero to something truly innovative. The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene was especially timely, as we’ve seen many of its lessons play out in Kenya’s current political landscape. It offered timeless insights on influence, leadership, and navigating power dynamics. The Fatherhood Principles by Myles Munroe was the perfect book to close the year. It sparked deep conversations on legacy, responsibility, and the impact of fatherhood, giving us space to reflect on our journeys as fathers and encourage those yet to join the club. What stood out for me was the diverse group of men I met in each cohort. The different perspectives enriched our conversations, and leading sessions sharpened our facilitation and communication skills. I’m excited for this year’s MBB cohorts and the new books ahead! If you haven’t joined yet, look out for Q1 registration and be part of this growing community of men committed to personal growth and leadership. Let’s keep growing together! 💪📖 #MensBookBreakfast #PersonalGrowth #ReadingCommunity #LeadershipDevelopment #MBB2024

I decided to develop a Book Family Tree out of my reading in the last year. My pick from the The Men's Book Breakfast ~ The MBB reading list is Outliers which we read through the last quarter. I also read The Great School Wars and O.J. The Last Word. Totally unrelated books save for the Jewish connection. In Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell tells the story of Joe Flom, an American corporate Lawyer who thrived in the hostile company takeover business because of his Jewish heritage. In the Great School Wars, Diane Ravitch talks of Africa Americans protesting against the economic and professional advantage the Jews seem to have over them despite being taught by the same teachers. In The Last Word by Gerry Spence, this tension between Jews and Africans plays out in the media as O.J. Simpson, an African American Sports Personality is tried by Marcia Clark a prosecutor of Jewish heritage.
