In the heart of The Peninsula New York, a story of friendship and creativity has been brewing for nearly 35 years. Salvatore Como, a proud Sicilian, joined our team in 1988, bringing with him the warmth and flavours of his homeland. Alongside him was Alan Kearney, a senior bartender with a knack for innovation. In the early days, after long shifts, Sal and Alan would unwind with a slice of tiramisu, a sweet reminder of Sal’s childhood in Sicily. One evening, their favourite restaurant ran out of the traditional dish, serving the dessert in a martini glass instead. This twist sparked an idea: why not transform their beloved tiramisu into a cocktail? Today, this cocktail is more than just a menu item; it’s a symbol of Sal and Alan’s enduring friendship and creativity. As they continue to serve this iconic drink on our rooftop, we celebrate their dedication and the joy they’ve brought to countless guests. Here’s to Sal and Alan, and the legacy they’ve crafted together!

Vince’s story is an inspiring example of career growth and development within The Peninsula Hotels. In 2005, Vincent Reyes began his journey as a Front Office Agent at The Peninsula Manila. His natural inclination for providing exceptional customer service quickly earned him a promotion to Front Office Supervisor, earning a further promotion to become Assistant Front Office Manager. Relishing the opportunity, Vince relocated to Bangkok to take up the Front Office Manager role and warm the hearts of his Thai colleagues. Learning how to build trust and engage international colleagues, Vince was then transferred as Director of Rooms at The Peninsula Beijing, marking a turning point in his career. Playing a supporting role as a pre-opening team member for The Peninsula Paris, Vince was transferred to his fourth country, becoming Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms at The Peninsula Chicago, and currently holding the position of Hotel Manager for the past few years. Another notable chapter in Vince’s journey was his recent task force assignment in London, where he supported the team in opening the hotel in 2023. Vince is a wonderful leader and a dear colleague within Peninsula, having mentored and worked with many colleagues across the Company.

For the past four decades, The Peninsula Hong Kong has celebrated the Lunar New Year with one of the city’s most breathtaking traditions: the lion and dragon dance. This vibrant performance symbolizes prosperity and good luck for the year ahead. This year, the awakening ritual of nine lions and one dragon will begin in the hotel forecourt and continue through the lobby, spreading luck, blessings, and good fortune to guests and staff alike. The dance troupe will feature three exclusive Peninsula red and gold lions, each adorned with the Chinese character for the hotel’s name.
