Building TopHealth Media Network | I work with Healthcare Providers, Executives, & Companies, helping them cut through the noise and build an audience | Fractional CMO and GTM Advisor

This morning, I had a Nike ad in my newsletter that goes out to 4,000 people across 50 countries. (See the image 👇) Featured in this edition: Mbappé's new line with Nike. This is a perfect example of the creator economy in action. Instead of big brands spending solely on traditional media, they're now investing in creator platforms for brand promotions. Through platforms like beehiiv, creators like me can offer ad slots to reach engaged audiences. The money once funneled into traditional campaigns now flows to thousands of creators globally. Creator platforms such as newsletter platforms (~beehiiv), video platforms (~YouTube), social platforms (~ TikTok), and so on, are very much part of the large scale distribution to creators. Of course, it doesn't mean creators are going to get paid at the scale of how tradition agencies for distribution, and it's the same pie divided among way more independent creators. But it's a win-win for everyone. Everyone has the capability to get involved in the distribution chain. Everyone has the capability to get involved with multiple brands. It's a new era, and we're well and truly in the creator economy! #CreatorEconomy #Distribution #FreshSalmon #VivekNanda

This Panda 🐼 is your AI-sidekick for mental wellbeing. Look there is a lot of AI noise (yup - you heard me, half-baked, not fully thought through solutions, sometimes just simple automations stamped as AI..you get the point). Especially in healthcare. ⚠️☠️🚨 But, there is one company that I'm putting my weights behind... And that's Earkick. From their mission to vision From their approach to execution From their customer centricity to global view of the problem.. All stands out! The day I had their COO and Co-founder Karin Andrea Stephan on my podcast The Uprising Show, I knew they are a special company. With more intent, and real focus on solving the problem. Since then they have been on my radar. Their CEO Herbert Bay recently shared that Earkick reached to #180 on the US App Store in the Health and Fitness category. In less than 4 months they have doubled their paying customers. And to be honest, I'm not surprised. After several conversations with Karin, I'm more bullish than ever on where Earkick is headed. Very recently, I had the opportunity to put Karin on the hot seat to discuss her thoughts on the criticism of AI in healthcare, and its capabilities to support people in their wellness journeys. We are out with the full conversation on TopHealth #MentalHealth Stream, please see the link in the first comment 👇👇 You don't want to miss out on a very thoughtful and unbiased conversation. Go check it out. And yes - go check out Earkick as well 🎉 #MentalHealth #TopHealth #HealthcareMediaNetwork #AI #HealthTech #Healthcare #KarinStephan #Earkick #VivekNanda #MentalHealthStream

Building the future of mental illness prevention | Protecting student wellness through AI | Founder & CEO @ Ceresant Solutions

A milestone year! 2024 is the year I have gotten my ass kicked the most in my career. 💚 2024 taught me that innovation isn't just about having the right idea - it's about having the resilience to keep standing when almost no one sees your vision yet, and the wisdom to know when to pivot. When we started building Ceresant Solutions to prevent mental illness, our focus was on primary care. We had the science right, but something wasn't clicking. Then we learned the most valuable lesson of our journey: Sometimes the market whispers (or is it - 'screams'!?) where it needs you to be. We listened. We pivoted. We quickly found our true calling in schools, where prevention can have its greatest impact. Along the way, I heard every version of skepticism imaginable: "If this approach works, why isn't it already being done?" "You're not from healthcare - what could you possibly know?" "The system is too entrenched to change" "Schools have too much on their plates already" But here's the thing about trying to solve real problems: The size of the resistance often matches the size of the potential impact. And the best solutions aren't always where you first look for them. Tragically, we just had another school shooting this week. I have received many inbound messages from folks knowing what we are doing and asking about our progress. And then there's this: With youth suicide now the second leading cause of death for ages 10-14, I've learned that some fights are worth taking every ass-kicking for - and some battles are worth being humble enough to reimagine. Every 'no' and every pivot this year has refined our approach, sharpened our focus, and ultimately made us stronger. As we close 2024, we're not just standing - we're advancing. Our prevention-first mental health platform is evolving from concept to reality, with our product advisory board formed with pilot programs forthcoming and an incredible team of advisors who see the same future we do. For anyone out there pushing against the tide to build something meaningful: - Your critics aren't your enemies - they're your refiners - Confusion from others about your vision isn't failure - it's feedback - The path forward isn't always about moving fast - sometimes it's just about moving Your first destination might not be your best destination - stay flexible Leadership isn't about being right - it's about being responsive Most importantly, the world needs more people willing to take the punches required to create real change, and who have the wisdom to adapt when the market shows you a better way. Keep going. Keep building. Keep believing. Keep listening. 2025 isn't just another year - it's our year to transform how we think about youth mental health. Who's with us? AI Won’t Hug You, But It Might Save Your Life. ❤️🩹 Yes, you read that right! A few days ago, I bumped into a post that had a very lopsided view about AI in Mental Health, to my surprise, it was projecting to look at Mental Health as a zero-sum game between therapists and tech (AI). It, obviously, didn't sit right with me. I reached out to Karin Andrea Stephan, who is COO and Co-Founder at Earkick, and also leading the charge of #MentalHealth Stream on TopHealth, with a proposal to discuss this topic in depth. Not only Karin provided a profound point of view on the topic, but drew attention to several key talking points in a constructive manner. Tomorrow I will be posting when the full conversation is released, but now, here is the clips from the conversation! #MentalHealth #TopHealth #HealthcareMediaNetwork #AI #HealthTech #Healthcare #KarinStephan #Earkick #VivekNanda

Almost 10 years ago, I wrote two bold goals in my journal. The first was deeply personal: "I want to impact the lives of one million people around the world." 💫 💫 This dream came from my mom, a retired teacher, whose life work was about educating and empowering others. Her legacy inspired me to set my own mission — to help or educate one million people in some way. The second goal was professional, almost audacious: "I want to create a new marketing channel for healthcare." As a marketer, I was always chasing the next big thing, but this felt bigger. It wasn’t just about following trends — it was about starting one. Fast forward to today, and I see those two goals coming to life as I build TopHealth Media Network. I’m working with healthcare executives, providers, and companies to help them build engaged audiences through strategic media marketing. But this is more than just a media network — it’s becoming a new distribution channel for healthcare. The excitement I feel now is unmatched. These aren’t just words I wrote down a decade ago — they’re becoming reality. I'm very grateful to all the customers who are already working with us. 🙏 Each and every one of them is a forward-thinker and a leader in their field, which is why I feel so privileged to working with them, and helping amplify their work and their missions. - - - TopHealth is a media network focused exclusively on thought leadership in healthcare. Co-founder/CEO, SeamlessMD | physician entrepreneur | enabling health systems to digitize patient care journeys with automated reminders, education and symptom monitoring - leading to lower LOS, readmissions, and costs

I’m SHOCKED we still give patients “paper maps” to navigate complex care journeys (e.g. pre/post surgery) when “GPS tech” can help patients who fall off track 👇 Remember the last time you used a paper map to drive? Or those printed MapQuest instructions? How easy it was to get lost… and not realize it for miles? Because with paper maps, there’s NO way to know the moment you were going in the wrong direction. But then… remember when GPS came out? Game changing. Not only can you pay more attention to the road ahead, but the best part is the GPS: → Notifies you the moment you were going in the wrong direction. You didn’t find out miles later. → Tells you HOW to move in the right direction again. Now contrast that to how we guide patients through pre/post-surgery, cancer, chronic care and so forth: → Paper instructions that patients forget or lose… plus like a paper map, it does not tell if a patient the moment they fell off track. → Verbal instructions that patients forget… and you don’t see your doctor or nurse again until you’ve fallen way off track and end up at the ER. Which is why we started SeamlessMD 12 years ago… to enable hospitals and health systems to provide digital care journey platform - essentially a GPS used by hospitals and health authorities to guide patients step-by-step across healthcare journeys with automated reminders, education and symptom tracking. What does that mean? Imagine you were having major heart surgery: → Your hospital provides you with a program you can access on your phone, tablet or computer. It’s also fully integrated with your hospital’s patient portal or digital front door. → In the days leading up to surgery you receive reminders of when to stop taking blood thinners, when to stop eating or drinking → After surgery you get videos on how to do your recovery exercises. → When you go home, you’re prompted to track your symptoms, pain levels and photos of your surgical incision → And your healthcare team at the hospital gets alerts and dashboards (accessed right in the EHR) to monitor you and catch problems like infections much earlier. And does this approach work…? Amazingly… yes! Health systems we work with see 75% median patient adoption and as high as 90%+ adoption at certain health systems. 40+ studies and evaluations have demonstrated lower cost of care, increased profit, and lower length of stay, mortality, readmissions, ED visits and phone calls… ... across multiple clinical areas from Ortho to Women’s Health to Cardiology to Oncology and more. Digital Health that goes beyond tech for tech sake. Digital Health that drives improved health outcomes. It’s time to put patients in the driver seat to more safely navigate their healthcare journeys. Who’s with me? 😀 P.S. Below is a clip of me explaining this thanks to the amazing podcast of Vivek Nanda The Uprising Show

In 2015, my Health Tech startup was running out of $. Every VC turned us down. I was rejected by 130+ investors. Here’s how we dug out of that hole 👇 Two years into building SeamlessMD, I needed to raise investor capital and I told myself: “Well, we might as well go big!” So I cold contacted a bunch of Tier 1 VCs… and they all took meetings with me. Andreessen Horowitz. Google Ventures. Bessemer. But… almost none of them went beyond a first meeting. And none of them invested. I had just wasted a few months with nothing to show for it. Not good. I had zero connections. I wasn’t from Silicon Valley. … but I had gumption. I also had no choice. I needed to raise our seed round or this journey would be over in several months. I pivoted and decided to try and raise money from a bunch of angel investors. But remember: I had no network! So I did the only thing I knew how to do… Research and cold contacting. I just spent hours researching Google, LinkedIn and Angel List. Finding anyone who had a history of investing in Health Tech startups or who I thought might be keen. I contacted hundreds of VCs and angels. 130 met with me. Less than 9% actually invested. So how did I maintain resilience? What I’ve learned is that raising capital (or selling product to a customer) is very much a numbers game. If you can get just one… you can get five. If you can give five… you can get 10. And so on and so on. The hardest part is getting the first one. Sure it may take me hundreds of meetings, but if I put in the time, I’ll eventually get there. And we eventually raised that $1.1M seed round. What I also learned is that in moments like that where you face true existential risk as a company - e.g. in this case, let's say a capital risk - you have to learn not to be distracted by things. As a CEO there are so many hats you wear. So many things you could do. But when you face a true existential risk, you have to learn to just drop every other ball. And focus on the one thing that matters. And you keep going… until the job is done. Link to more tales from the full podcast episode in the comments below 👇

Dropped Out of Med School to Build a Health Tech Company? Here's How It Turned Out 👇👇 I had a fascinating conversation with Joshua Liu, the founder of SeamlessMD, who’s been building his digital health company for nearly 12 years on The Uprising Show. And guess what? It all started after he made the bold decision to drop out of med school in his final year. Joshua shared some incredible stories from his journey—like pitching to hundreds of venture capitalists early on with no clear strategy (and getting plenty of "no"s). But over time, he learned how to refine his focus, and now SeamlessMD partners with over 50 hospitals across North America. One thing that stood out? Joshua’s belief that you can’t sell off-the-shelf products in healthcare, in most cases it only leads to zero adoption. Instead, real success comes from understanding the ecosystem deeply and working hand-in-hand with partners. We also explored why he’s cautious about AI in healthcare right now and how it might be adopted (or not) in the future. He also shared his thoughts on building the health-tech company, per Joshua - for many reasons the US is still probably the best place if you're trying to build a healthcare technology company as a starting point and then work to scale that to other geographies. If you’re into health tech, entrepreneurship, or just love a great story about persistence and growth, this is one episode you don’t want to miss. 👉 Full episode link in the comments! - - - The Uprising Show is one of the top global podcast in the world, recently broke into Top 10%, it is one of the many shows that's built and promoted on TopHealth.
