Finding and maintaining a healthy relationship can be challenging, especially if you’re unsure of what qualities to look for. Sharing her perspective with Parade, Dr. Lynn Chosiad, a Licensed Psychologist with Thriveworks, discusses what a healthy relationship looks like and signs to look out for that yours might not be as healthy as you think. According to Dr. Chosiad, one sign that you have a healthy relationship is that your partner makes you feel like your best self. “They will celebrate your best qualities and also enjoy your funny quirks,” she says. “They will understand what makes you awesome and be happy to be with such an awesome person.” Check out the article for more insights on healthy relationships:https://lnkd.in/giegXZ4E

Remember when you were a kid performing at a school play, choir concert, or another event? Do you recall looking out into the crowd, searching for a familiar face? Spotting your parents or loved ones in the audience brought a spark of happiness and bolstered your confidence in your performance. Parents do their best to attend the events they can, but sometimes, life gets in the way. Alejandra Galindo, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Thriveworks, shared her thoughts with Parents.com on the importance of showing up for our kids and ways to handle the times you can’t. “It’s important to give ourselves grace as parents for so many reasons,” Galindo says. “Parents often try their best to do what they can and give their kids the things they didn’t have growing up. While this is a noble cause, our kids may not have the same worries we did as children.” https://lnkd.in/eA-QD9e8

Rejection is something we don’t typically enjoy experiencing. But is there a way to desensitize ourselves to being rejected? A recent TikTok trend known as “rejection therapy” has individuals online putting themselves into situations where they might get rejected in an effort to become more comfortable with it. Thriveworks therapist Marisha Mathis, LCSW, provided her perspective to Well+Good on how to use rejection therapy and when it might do more harm than good. “You shouldn’t engage in rejection therapy without reflecting on the reasons for rejection and your feelings around it,” Mathis says. “Rejection therapy can become mechanical and unproductive. It could neutralize the original intent for emotional growth or self-awareness.” https://lnkd.in/g4xta9-4

Thank you to the organizers for another amazing Behavioral Health Tech. It's always a great opportunity to connect with other industry leaders in support of advancing behavioral health quality and access. Our CEO, Dan Frogel, also had the opportunity to join a panel discussion on collaborative care, diving into strategies that enhance health outcomes, reduce costs, and expand access to mental health services: "Through Thriveworks' engagement of health systems, we're finding a tremendous need for diagnoses-specific, integrated behavioral healthcare. Adding in that element of care - clinicians who understand what it's like to have depression when you have cancer, kidney disease, or diabetes for example - has the potential to greatly impact overall health outcomes." #bht2024

Each family's version of successful co-parenting looks different. Learning how to co-parent when one parent has ADHD can present a new set of challenges. Monica Cwynar, LCSW with Thriveworks, expressed her thoughts on navigating co-parenting with ADHD to 21Ninety. “ADHD can significantly affect relationships due to the symptoms that often manifest, such as impulsivity, distractibility, emotional dysregulation, and difficulty with organization and follow-through,”Cwynar explained. Cwynar suggests setting realistic expectations with your ADHD co-parent to help avoid frustration and potential disappointment. Check out the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gChyAn_c

As we approach the presidential election, many Americans are feeling stressed and overwhelmed by near-constant political discourses. Nikki Stark, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Thriveworks, spoke with the Austin American-Statesman on how to cope with political anxiety, particularly in the aftermath. If you’re still having anxiety after election day, Stark suggests practicing radical acceptance. "Accept it for what it is," Stark said. "You can only deal with the cards you have been dealt. ... You can only control what you can control." Read the more here: https://lnkd.in/gVnpaFtG
