  • Throughout a year that brimmed with change, collaboration remained at the heart of our work as a team and with our many essential partners. We welcomed a new executive director, introduced new programs, and defined our theory of change while holding steady in our collective work of building coordinated, community-informed solutions to public health needs across Colorado. For a look at our year in review, explore our 2024 Annual Report highlighting how we apply our theory of change in practice and where we see opportunities for growth in the year ahead. https://lnkd.in/gRmCtdFf We are so grateful to everyone striving for a Colorado where everyone has the opportunity to be healthy and live in a healthy environment. As we say goodbye to 2024, we look forward to another year of innovation, collaboration, and community. 🎉

  • Today is Colorado Gives Day which invites all people living in Colorado to strengthen the state’s nonprofits by giving locally. For over 30 years, our work has focused on ensuring that there is a critical mass of support across the field of public health for community-driven solutions, and that communities and organizations who work in direct service to communities have the resources they need to effectively address community needs. #ColoradoGivesDay is an opportunity to support causes that we care about, and give to organizations who give back to our communities. Today, we invite you to support our mission by making a donation to Trailhead or to one of our many administrative partners who are making a profound impact across our state. It only takes a little to make a big impact. 🧡 Click here to give today: https://lnkd.in/e3qX28fj 🧡 Discover more than 30 organizations who are making a profound impact across our state: https://lnkd.in/ekXt5PSw

Rose Community Foundation hosted a learning session this morning on the Colorado Safe Futures Fund, which takes a public health approach to preventing firearm-related injuries and death. The panelists explored how the fund leverages this approach to equip communities with actionable data, resources, and the capacity to drive meaningful change. They also highlighted the crucial role that donors and foundations can play in advancing this important initiative. A special thanks to our panelists and partners in this effort: Sarah Kurz, chief impact officer at Rose Community Foundation; Jonathan McMillan, director of the firearm-related harm and violence prevention program office at Trailhead Institute; Michaelle Smith, executive director of Rocky Mountain Health Foundation; and VJ Brown, community impact officer at Rose Community Foundation, for leading this important conversation. • Grief is a universal experience and has significant impacts on our health and communities. Megan Wise, Regional Health Connector for Region 10 in Colorado, started building support for people grieving in her region after losing her son in 2021. Learn more about how she’s helping change the way communities in her region – including San Miguel, Ouray, Montrose, Delta, Hinsdale, and Gunnison Counties – think about death and handle grief and is helping create new systems and policies to provide support for bereaved families. https://lnkd.in/gYejHB2E

I hope the impact of all of this is that the whole community can open up, be genuine, not be afraid to talk about grief and death, and be really good at supporting each other through those difficult times."
