Working towards a world where trans, gender diverse & non-binary kids are embraced & given every opportunity to thrive.

About us

Transcend Australia is a national, community-led, registered nonprofit organisation making sure that trans, non-binary and gender diverse young people are embraced and given every opportunity to thrive. We provide information, resources and a safe space for families, parents and carers, service providers, practitioners and the community to develop their understanding and grow their confidence to be able to support young people according to their needs so that they can be who they are. We do this because we know that, when trans, gender diverse and non-binary young people can receive the care they need, can express themselves with freedom and have access to the same opportunities as others, they will thrive.

Updates

  • To our wonderful families, young people and supporters - this year, we will be closing our office from 24 December until 2 January. During this time, we will not be responding to emails or running services and activities. We are looking forward to the break and we hope that everyone in our community has a chance to take some time to rest after another very big year. We will be back in January and have some exciting plans coming up. Please take care and be kind to one another.

  • Transcend Australia stands in solidarity with trans young people, their families, and advocates in the UK following the recent decision to continue criminalising the prescription of puberty blockers for transgender children and young people. We extend our support to organisations like Mermaids who support trans children and young people and their families in the UK, and the countless families and young people in the UK affected by this harmful decision. For those in the UK seeking legal access to puberty blockers, we encourage you to reach out to Anne Trans+ Health. Read the full statement here - https://lnkd.in/gBi-epaY

  • Today, we are celebrating this collaboration with Sportsgirl, who worked with our Transcend Youth Leader Frankie in a new campaign 'Going Places'. A campaign to celebrate and tell the stories of incredible people and organisations doing good, creating better futures and going places. Frankie is definitely going places, and with a supportive family, a supportive school and access to the healthcare she deserves, she has the best chance to get to where she wants to go. #transawarenessweek

  • Each year hundreds of families contact Transcend Australia for information and support for their trans kids. They are average Australian families just like anyone else, but they need some extra support to manage unique situations to help all of their kids to thrive. Please consider making a EOFY tax deductible donation to help us reach more families across Australia. https://lnkd.in/eBMc2zQN
