Electricity Delivered Better.
About us
Transmission and distribution systems are the backbone of the world’s power grids and the global energy transition. Yet T&D technology hasn’t significantly changed in more than a century. We cannot operate a 21st century grid with 20th century wires. That’s why TS Conductor was born — because there’s a better way to deliver electricity. Headquartered in California, our award-winning, high-performance conductors are modernizing electricity infrastructure for all. TS Conductor provides a drop-in advanced solution for both reconductoring and new line builds capable of handling 3x ampacity, cutting line losses by as much as 50%, and boasting exceptional strength while nearly eliminating sag, compared to traditional ACSR/ACSS conductors. The TS team and our electric utility partners are unlocking that potential — strengthening grid reliability and resilience, reducing total costs, accelerating grid modernization and decarbonization, and enabling better renewables integration, all while handling new loads from EVs and the Electrify Everything movement. Plus, by using the best materials and technology available, we’ve solved the problems associated with previous generations of advanced conductors. Our conductors are easy to work with, using tools and techniques already familiar to line crews. All of this has made the TS solution one of the most-awarded grid technologies of recent years, including 2023 winner of the CABLE Prize from the U.S. Department of Energy’s American Made challenge, 2023 winner of a Platts Global Energy Award from S&P Global Commodity Insights, 2023 winner of Public Utilities Fortnightly’s inaugural Edison Pioneers Innovation of the Year, and 2024 finalist of BNEF Pioneers. Born in the USA. Made in the USA. Backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, NextEra, and National Grid.

“Advanced transmission technologies should be among the default solutions to increase grid capacity and performance at the lowest cost,” said Doug Scott at the recent NARUC meeting, where the board passed a resolution to encourage funding the adoption of technologies to improve the grid. NARUC recognizes the value that advanced conductor technology brings to RTOs, ISOs, utilities, and their customers, and we are glad to see this resolution succeed. The grid is urgently in need of updated technology, and TS Conductor’s next-generation advanced conductors provide the most capacity, with safety and resilience designed in. https://lnkd.in/g4DCzyeh

The TS Conductor team is full of talented individuals, and recently, we got to see their musical skills in action with a jingle competition! The only requirement: the lyrics had to include, “We are wired for safety.” Ezequiel Montanez, ‘Zeke’, Senior Quality Assurance Inspector, won the vote for his jingle! Check out the video of Zeke’s performance at our lunch and learn.

Utilities face many challenges in trying to support the electrification of everything, respond to growing energy demand, and keep up with a changing regulatory environment, all while delivering reliable sources of electricity to their customers at reasonable rates. Transmission capacity desperately needs to expand, particularly to deliver new sources of renewable generation. Integrating those sources is even more difficult with grid congestion. With FERC order 1920, utilities and transmission planners are now tasked with planning on a 20-year horizon, but demand growth is far from predictable right now. Stay ahead of the evolving environment by planning to use the highest-capacity conductor technology on the market. TS Conductor’s AECC technology delivers 200-300% more ampacity, making reconductoring the best option for increasing capacity in the near term and cost-effectively. Utilities can also save on structure costs for new builds because of the minimal sag achieved with AECC conductors. https://lnkd.in/gCPkp2Xw

Our supporters at National Grid Partners have a rigorous type registration process to participate in project bidding across the National Grid Electric Transmission network. After testing the AECC conductor’s conductivity, strength, and tensility, they also visited our Southern California facility to learn more about the TS Conductor manufacturing process and our dedication to using the best materials available. Here’s what they had to say about our product: “The lightweight design means electrical cables can be suspended across greater distances without sagging, enabling utilities to construct shorter transmission towers and space them farther apart. That not only saves utility customers money, but it also reduces the impact of new towers on local communities and the environment.” Read more in the case study: https://lnkd.in/g3dnFvyV

Have you read the new paper from MIT - Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research? “Increased use of advanced transmission technologies (ATTs) can play a major role in meeting this demand growth quickly and cost-effectively.” Read more below.
Founder & CEO of TS Conductor: award-winning, high-performance conductors made in America to modernize the world’s power grids.
The electricity grid is at a tipping point. Demand is rising for the first time in decades. Meanwhile, we’re working to transition to renewable electricity generation sources and navigate the climate crisis. We have an incredible amount of renewables waiting to be utilized, but the grid isn’t equipped to integrate them. “Over the course of 2023, the backlog of generator and storage capacity actively seeking interconnection to the electric grid increased by 27 percent—by December 2023, nearly 2,600 GW of generator and storage capacity were in the ‘queue,’ 95 percent of which was solar, storage, and wind.” Advanced transmission technologies like TS Conductor’s AECC wires can unlock the capacity and efficiency needed to get those renewables online, but incentive structures make the adoption of these technologies less appealing. This new paper written by Brian Deese, Rob Gramlich, and Anna Pasnau, and published by the MIT - Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research recommends a 5-part framework to accelerate the adoption of ATTs. “In the near-term, perhaps the most powerful opportunity for progress involves increasing the capacity of the electricity grid without building entirely new lines or systems. With so-called advanced transmission technologies (ATTs), we can expand transmission capacity quickly by improving utilization of existing grid infrastructure.” TS Conductor’s AECC Conductor can increase grid capacity up to 3x when compared to ACSR conductors. That is the kind of capacity needed for today’s energy demand growth and to allow more renewables onto the grid faster, while saving ratepayers money. https://lnkd.in/gDfvikky
