Late last week the FCC announced potential fines to ESPN for violating the emergency alert rules and using the emergency alert tone in last year's ad promos for their National Basketball Association (NBA) coverage. So we looked at how many viewers this had the potential to reach and disrupt. 🚨 There was a potential for those ads to reach up to 60 million impressions among parents, depending on whose TVs were on during the promos. Nearly 5 million of those impressions would have been hitting households with kids under the age of 2. (That might have been an extra disruptive noise for those households.) Ultimately, the proposed fine from the FCC comes down to around a fourth of a single penny per impression viewed. 💸 How do we know?
