Another significant milestone for Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) with Breeze Airways™ inaugural flight—powered by Connecticut-made Pratt & Whitney engines. Our vision for Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN), under a historic long-term public-private partnership (P3), is becoming a reality. Today, we proudly welcomed our second airline, Breeze Airways. A huge thanks to my all-star ops team at HVN, led by Michael Jones and Jeremy Nielson, for making this monumental day possible. Special appreciation to my exec team—Matt Shelby for negotiating the agreement, Arturo Garcia for leading the team through a successful ORAT, Tim Sullivan and Rasmus Agerskov for their outstanding data and financial analysis, and Kayla Reasco, Andrew King and Tom Cavaliere for organizing a stellar press and community event. Gratitude also to the Tweed New Haven Airport Authority, led by Robert Reed and Tom Rafter; CT Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz; NH Mayor Justin Elicker; Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro; and Senator Chris Murphy for their steadfast support, which has been critical to our success. Welcome to the #HVN family, Breeze Airways™! ✈️ Today is the first time in 17 years that Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) will service more than one airline, marking a major milestone in our growth and mission to provide more convenient, affordable air travel to Southern #Connecticut travelers. We were joined by state and local dignitaries, including Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Mayor Justin Elicker, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, Director of Tourism Rachel Lenda, and Tweed Authority Chairman Robert Reed to celebrate the occasion and see off Breeze's inaugural flight to #FtMyers, Florida. The future is bright, and it's taking off from HVN.
Exciting news! 🎉 Avelo Airlines announced this morning the addition of four NEW, nonstop destinations from #HVN beginning in 2025: ✈️ Dallas, TX-Fort Worth (DFW) ✈️ Detroit, Michigan (DTW) ✈️ Jacksonville, Florida (JAX) ✈️ Portland, Maine (PWM) HVN proudly serves as Avelo's largest base, with nearly 300 dedicated Avelo crewmembers supporting a fleet of nine aircraft. Together, HVN and Avelo connect travelers to 31 nonstop destinations across the United States. Here's to many more years of growth!
This afternoon, the #HVN and Breeze Airways™ teams successfully completed an Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) exercise. From ticketing and security to boarding and baggage claim, this rehearsal covered all the essential procedures for their operational launch from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) on December 10th -- only one week away! ✈️ 🎉 We’re excited to report a smooth exercise and look forward to welcoming Breeze to the HVN family.
