Hi folks, Can anyone recommend any good freelance Impact Producers who work in documentary please? Ideally will have had experience in doing impact around a film for cinema release and is comfortable in dealing with current social issues around mental health and youth. I've spoken to a handful of extremely talented, BAFTA/BIFA award winning producers in recent weeks. They've all either quit or are verging on quitting the industry because they can't cope with the never ending toll of either 1) Getting work 2) Remaining in work 3) Earning enough 4) Mental health 5) Obscene working hours 6) Insane deliverables... then having to repeat the process over and over again. Personally, seeing LinkedIn posts about slight upturn in industry periodically are mere sticking plasters. Landed back in the UK after a wonderful experience in New Zealand for Doc Edge. 'Poised' was a Finalist for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences qualifying 'Best International Feature' category and overall winner of the competition. Ultimately we finished as a runner up to 'Sugarcane', the winner of the US Documentary competition and runner up for the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival (Sundance Institute) this year. A little win for our fair region though! We are now hungry for more on the festival circuit. A huge thank you to everyone at team Doc Edge and to everyone I met from all over the globe whilst out there. Some fantastic connections and friendships made. New Zealand - a delightful place of which we will return one day to see a whole lot more. For anyone concerned about the security of the Indie Film Tax Credit heading into the election period - the Finance Bill received Royal Assent on Friday, just in the nick of time. There is some further ‘housekeeping’ required for the BFI to issue the interim certificates, but the IFTC is safe. Pass it on.
