In Brazil, engineers from MVP e-solutions and U&M Mineração e Construção S/A collaborated to advance the hybridization of a massive 186-ton mining truck using Typhoon HIL technology. This innovative simulation platform allowed them to meticulously model and analyze the interactions between the truck's electric motors, battery pack, and DC-DC converter dynamics. The project represents a significant leap forward in the integration of hybrid technology within heavy-duty mining equipment. 📝 Learn more about this project in our blog: https://lnkd.in/dSZiHDrn #eMobility #ElectricTruck #Truck #Automotive #Mining #HIL

Bidirectional #V2G charging has the potential to unlock great new possibilities for home energy systems. Homeowners with solar PV systems and EVs traditionally maximize savings by charging their vehicles with self-generated electricity. But with bidirectional charging, EV batteries—much larger than standard home storage—can act as energy storage units, increasing self-consumption and optimizing energy use. Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Wille-Haußmann and his team explore this topic in their latest blog and animation, available here: https://lnkd.in/e3KJ9hQd #BidirectionalCharging #V2G #SustainableEnergy #RenewableEnergy #EnergyStorage #SmartGrid

Experience high-fidelity EV powertrain simulation with our latest co-simulation approach between Typhoon HIL and IPG Automotive’s CarMaker! This integration enables real-time emulation of electric converters, machines, and cell-level BMS, while CarMaker adds detailed vehicle dynamics, including tires, chassis, and autonomous driving functionalities. The setup can be extended to electric trucks (TruckMaker) and motorcycles (MotorcycleMaker), considering various driving conditions, from motorsport tracks to off-road terrains. Try the four-wheel-drive EV model in Typhoon HIL Control Center (THCC)! 📝 Read the brand new whitepaper on Unlocking Versatility in Power Converters with Typhoon HIL: https://lnkd.in/dFJj6D3n Developing Power Converter Systems (PCS) involves significant challenges when transitioning from simplified simulations to complex real-world systems. Real-time testing and validation of control strategies before final hardware enables early error detection and extensive testing, reducing development time and cost while improving product quality. This white paper provides a functional overview of the IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya's application of Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) within the H2020 Hybris Project EU. In this project, the HIL404 real-time simulator serves as the controller for the power converter system. We thank Àlber Filbà Martínez and Claudia Cabre Piqueras fo co-authoring this whitepaper and Sergio Costa, Caio Osorio, and Nikola Lučić for their contributions within the project and during the paper revision process. #PowerElectronics #HILTesting #EnergyInnovation #RenewableEnergy #SmartGrid #EngineeringSolutions

Before we concluded last year's activities, our team visited several institutions in Brazil, starting with Itaipu Parquetec (PTI), Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana - UNILA, and UNIOESTE in Foz do Iguaçu. There, we connected with brilliant minds working on cutting-edge research in microgrids, cybersecurity, and energy management. First off, we are sending out a special shout-out to Prof. João Manoel Lenz from UNILA, who played a key role in organizing our visit there, and to Jonas Pesente for the support and great discussions about further cooperation possibilities. At UNIOESTE, we met with Prof. Adriano Batista de Almeida to explore the work performed at PGEEC Mestrado em Elétrica e Computação, particularly their Microgrid Lab. At Parque Tecnológico Itaipu - Brasil, we engaged with the Cybersecurity Group, where Wilson Kihara .'. and Rolf Massao Satake Gugisch welcomed our team. We also had an enriching exchange with the Energy Management Group (GE), and we thank Paulo Thiago de Godoy, Guilherme Zat, and Marcos Marques for the online and in-person discussions! Lastly, we visited their Hydrogen group, where Carina Bonavigo Jakubiu gave us a great tour. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of José Octávio Cesário, Felipe Crestani dos Santos, and Caio Osorio, who led these visits and helped foster valuable collaborations. Kudos to them for their great work! 👏 We look forward to building on these connections and exploring new opportunities together! #PowerElectronics #Microgrids #Cybersecurity #EnergyManagement #Collaboration #FozDoIguaçu #Networking

Testing my new Frequency-Adaptive Second Order Kalman Filter... The scope shows a frequency jump from 30Hz to 400Hz. The yellow is the input signal and the blue waveform is the the response of the Kalman filter. Both signals are clean and orthogonal for all frequency range. #PowerElectronics #Education #KalmanFilter
