What do you think of when someone talks about the year 1999? Probably that catchy song by Prince… Well, while we enjoy good music, this post is about something else that took place in 1999 – the hiring of our Animal Care Supervisor for the Fish Conservation and Culture Laboratory (FCCL), Luke Ellison! This year officially marks 25 years of service from Luke to the University of California Davis so, we hope you will join us in congratulating Luke on 25 years of supporting the FCCL!!! Here is a link to the FCCL website if you wish to learn more about the facility and the people who are working day in and day out to ensure the survival of a controversial, yet, small fish called the Delta Smelt: https://fccl.ucdavis.edu/ Again, congratulations Luke Ellison! We are so proud of the work you've done for our department, institution, and state!

I am thrilled to share that our team won 1st place at the AI Institute for Food Systems hackathon! 🎉🌾 A huge thank you to Teeranade Cheng and Chayuth Pantrattanamongkol and others for making this possible. Our AI solution, "CropCure", is a mobile application designed to revolutionize crop disease management for farmers. CropCure leverages the power of the YOLOv8 deep learning classification model to accurately detect crop diseases. It features a chatbot interface where farmers can interact with the bot using Digital Green’s API. But that’s not all – our app goes beyond detection. It provides farmers with comprehensive crop management tools, a centralized knowledge base for disease information, and advanced forecasting capabilities to help prevent future outbreaks. #AI #Hackathon #Agritech #DeepLearning #CropManagement #YOLOv8 #Innovation
