This Winter break, the team behind our social accounts will be stepping away to rest and spend time with loved ones. From 12/20/24-1/5/25, we will not be posting new content or answering questions until we return, so the team can focus on their friends, family and health. We hope you get some rest as well. See you on January 6th, Aggies! Image description: A watertower graphic on a blue background with snowflakes above it. "Winter Break" in yellow font is centered with the UC Davis logo below it.

🚨 Research alert! 🚨 A new paper from UCDavis is shedding light on when and where to plant tree seedlings to help restore forests after high-severity wildfires, and it has a lot to do with shrubs. In hotter, drier areas where natural regeneration is weaker, well-timed tree planting can boost recovery by up to 200%, but the outcome also depends on competition with shrubs.
