Dear Community and Friends, As we approach the end of 2024, I am delighted to share some exciting news and updates from the Department of Computer & Info. Sciences at the Univ. of Delaware. It’s a dynamic time for our department as we continue to grow, innovate, and achieve new milestones. We are thrilled to welcome three outstanding new faculty members to our team! Each of them brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to advancing our mission of excellence in research, education, and community engagement.  John Aromando Dong Dai Yixiang Deng A huge congratulations to Xi Peng and Xing Gao on receiving the prestigious NSF CAREER Awards! Notably, 52% of our tenure-track faculty are now NSF CAREER Award recipients—a testament to the extraordinary talent within our department. We are proud to announce that our faculty have secured 18 new grants, totaling an impressive $14 million—a remarkable 180% increase over last year! Our industry funding has also surpassed the $1 million mark this year, a fivefold increase compared to pre-pandemic levels, showcasing the impact and value of our collaborations with industry partners. Our department is growing rapidly, reflecting the increasing demand for our programs and their impact. This year, we have reached record enrollment with 673 undergraduate students and 230 graduate students, including 130 Ph.D. students—a 25% increase over last year! We are excited about these accomplishments and even more enthusiastic about what lies ahead.
