  • An important update from UMC CEO Mark Funderburk: As we enter the advent season, I wish you and yours the blessings of health and joy. On behalf of UMC, I appreciate the patience and grace extended to UMC through our recent cybersecurity incident. Our systems are restored; all areas are open, and we have been back to normal operations for several weeks. Yet, we certainly understand the impact of our temporary disruption upon you, the community we serve. I apologize for access limitations and resulting frustration you may have experienced. If you had appointments cancelled and are unsure of when they might have been rescheduled, I encourage you to call 1-888-722-4828, and I promise we will take care of you. Service is our Passion is more than a slogan at UMC. It defines our culture of service and resonates within the hearts of our employees, volunteers and providers. I am very, very grateful – to the entirety of Team UMC – for their rapid and skilled response, for their innovation toward solutions, for their long hours and sleepless nights, and for their sheer resilience, as we faced an unknown threat. In the end, they diligently restored our systems, always with a watchful eye on the care of our patients. As our Information Technology team stated, “These are not just our computer systems, these are our patients.” With that shared resolve, UMC emerges from this a stronger health provider. Lessons have been learned, and further investments have been made to strengthen our cybersecurity posture. We have much to look forward to in service to our community. We just opened our 2nd 24/7 Urgent Care Clinic behind our Health & Wellness Hospital in SW Lubbock. And in the new year, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of UMC EMS and dedicate our renovated UMC Children’s Hospital. Thank you to our friends, patients and community for your trust and support. With Gratitude, Mark Funderburk

  • This morning we celebrated a HUGE milestone in the construction of the new UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center with a beam signing ceremony! The new UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center, opening in early 2026 on the main campus, will expand access to essential cancer care for West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. A joint effort by UMC and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, the center will serve as a destination for comprehensive treatment, integrative wellness programs, patient support, and enhanced research and clinical trials. This center will ensure that families across our vast region receive world-class cancer care and resources without the need to travel far from their community.

  • A huge thank you to our amazing UMC employees! 🎉 Your generous donations raised over $2,500 for the American Heart Association, and in return, you voted for Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Nick Skeen, to take a pie to the face! We’re so grateful for your kindness, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference. And Nick, we hope you found that pie as filling as it was fulfilling!
