Union Settlement has served as an unwavering beacon of hope, a source of strength, and a pathway for greater opportunity for the East Harlem Community for 130 years. Today, we are the largest social service organization in East Harlem and one of the largest Settlement Houses in New York City. As we move forward, Union Settlement continues to strive for a future with greater access to education and resources for our children, youth, families, and local businesses. This commitment to the vitality and wellbeing of our community would not be possible without the support of our dedicated team, community partners, and generous donors. Some of the programs we provide include: - Free adult education classes (empowering 500+ adult students) - Aging, Health, & Wellness Services: supporting self-reliance and independent living for East Harlem’s 2000+ seniors via Older Adult Centers, Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC), Meals on Wheels, Seniors United to Serve volunteer program - Comprehensive Mental Health & Emotional Healthcare – supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of the East Harlem Community via The Johnson Counseling Center, Early Childhood Education sites, and School Mental Health Program - Early Childhood Education – high quality and individualized learning for young children - Economic Development – seeks to build equitable wealth through empowering communities, transforming space, developing and enhancing small businesses, and promoting economic growth through policy and program advocacy. - Family Childcare Network: is a NYC Department of Education funded program that prepares community members to establish and run their own home-based childcare businesses. Our childcare providers care for over 150 children as young as 6 weeks to 3 years of age in an educationally stimulating home-based setting. All child care centers and home care providers are licensed by the NYC Department of Health and provide hot, nutritious meals to all participants. - NYC Benefits Program: aims to connect eligible New Yorkers to benefit assistance and to ensure that all eligible New Yorkers are made aware of the supportive programs available to them. Our role is to make accessing these supports easy and efficient. - Youth Development & Opportunity: provides robust afterschool and summer education, arts and recreation programs for children from kindergarten through high school. Through our programs, every year almost 900 eager and energetic children, teens and young adults actively seek and create opportunities to forge brighter futures. #GivingTuesday2024 #GivingTuesday #CommunityServices #YouthPrograms #SeniorPrograms #CommunityPrograms
