UM graduate Brea Givens, the founder of Froomie, was victorious in the 2020 (virtual) Mid-South Business Model Competition. She secured a prize of $4,000, which she utilized to enhance her business concept based on the feedback received. This refinement led her to clinch the first-place award of $10,000 in the 2021 Gillespie Business Plan Competition the subsequent semester. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the competition was successfully conducted online, thanks to the exceptional support from the UM business school and our sponsors. #CIETurns10 #DiscoverBuildGrow #UMCIE

Last week I traveled to New York City 🗽 for the 2024 MaKiNetwork Media Conferences! We kicked off the week with a tour of the NYSE and CNBC studios! From walking the red carpet to witnessing the ringing of the bell was such a rewarding experience 🤩 Throughout the conference, I had the chance to engage with communication experts from the top 6% of business schools around the world and powerhouse journalists from Inside Higher Ed, The New York Times, and Bloomberg, to name a few! Thanks to S. David Wu, President of Baruch College and the Zicklin School of Business for their warm hospitality 💕 Special thanks to Kiki Keating for the invite and congratulations on another AMAZING conference! Looking forward to next year! #MarketingBae #NYC #BSchool #Communications #HottyToddy #MakiNetwork University of Mississippi Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Erika H. In 2019, Liza Cirlot Looser, founder and CEO of The Cirlot Agency, was appointed incoming Chair of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Advisory Board. Cirlot Looser, an alumnus of Mississippi University for Women and Harvard Business School, founded The Cirlot Agency, Inc., in 1984. Under her leadership, the agency has grown into a multimillion-dollar global branding firm that specializes in aerospace and defense. “It is a distinct honor to hold this position in such a vital program,” said Cirlot Looser. “CIE gives motivated future entrepreneurs the chance to present their ideas, polish them, and receive feedback from industry experts. I am delighted to have this opportunity, and I have no doubt that our students will exceed our expectations." ❤️💙 #CIETurns10 #UMCIE #DiscoverBuildGrow #OleMissInnovates

🌟 Celebrating our changemaker Anne Mathis 🌟 As we celebrate 10 years of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, we want to highlight a key figure in our journey: Anne Mathis. Anne Mathis is a business and marketing leader with quantifiable success creating and deploying sound marketing campaigns and business strategies. She is a co-founder of Triton Stone Group, which has grown to be one of the largest importers of slab stone and tile in the US with 29 locations and over $275 million in sales. She co-managed numerous initial locations with scope of leadership spanning marketing, human resources, administration, and operations. She was intimately involved in positioning these locations, as well as the corporation itself for sale. Here's to honoring the pioneers who helped us grow—and to many more years of fostering innovation together! 🙌 #CIE10Years #CIETurns10 #InnovationPioneer #CIECommunity
