The Nevada Center for Applied Research (NCAR) has launched a new speaker series for local startup companies and groups, welcoming speakers from within the University of Nevada, Reno entrepreneurial ecosystem. Join Logan Jones from 𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘 (Sierra Accelerator for Growth and Entrepreneurship) on Wednesday, Feb. 19, for an informative session on accessing nondilutive federal funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. This talk, held 10-11 a.m. in the Applied Research Facility, Room 214, will explore the small business innovation ecosystem, share key resources to support an application process, and provide actionable strategies and timelines for crafting a competitive proposal. The session will conclude with a Q&A, offering the opportunity to get specific questions answered and gain tailored advice for businesses. Nevada State Climatologist Baker Perry and Associate Professor Julie Loisel were interviewed about their experiences conducting research in extreme environments, from the tallest mountains in the world to tangled mangrove jungles.
