Today AMS announced the launch of the Organic Dairy Product Promotion (ODPP) program, allocating $15 million to expand access to organic dairy products in educational institutions and youth programs. Funded by the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC), the program will increase consumption of organic dairy products among children and young adults while creating new opportunities for local small and mid-sized organic dairy producers. https://lnkd.in/eSn_H9CH

Organic Integrity from Farm to Table, Consumers Trust the Organic Label
About us
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service’s National Organic Program (NOP) is a regulatory program that develops and enforces national standards for organically-produced agricultural products. These standards assure consumers that products with the USDA organic seal meet consistent, uniform standards for production and distribution. Organic products are now found in the majority of U.S. households with Americans spending $66+ billion in organic purchases annually. The National Organic Program team: - Investigates complaints alleging violations of USDA organic regulations; conducts proactive compliance and outreach activities; and enforces organic production, handling, and labeling standards. - Accredits and oversees a network of third-party organizations, called certifiers, who certify organic farms and businesses. - Sets standards for organically-produced agricultural products. We develop and update regulations and policies; and facilitate review of new materials for use in organic agriculture. - Collaborates with other USDA agencies and countries to establish organic equivalency arrangements. - Develops communication materials and outreach and training programs to support the organic community.

Our Market News recently expanded its collection and distribution of price and production cost information for organic agricultural products by adding organic milk, cattle, grains and feedstuffs, and fertilizer to its list of published reports. Organic products are included among the hundreds of agricultural products for which AMS Market News publishes market information. This data promotes market transparency and helps farmers and businesses make informed business decisions – resulting in a fairer and more competitive marketplace for all participants. https://bit.ly/4f9hWlK

On National Farmers' Day, we thank the individuals who dedicate their lives to feeding and fueling the world, especially during these difficult times. Our thoughts are with those who were impacted by #Milton and #Helene. USDA will be here every step of the way during recovery. Assistance is available at disasterassistance.gov or farmers.gov.

The USDA Organic label indicates that agricultural products have been produced according to the USDA organic standards, which require operations to use practices that cycle resources, conserve biodiversity, and preserve ecological balance. USDA National Organic Program develops and enforces the standards for organic crops, livestock, and agricultural products so consumers can feel confident purchasing organic goods. Behind every organic label are the four pillars of USDA organic. 🔸 Protected by law. 🔸 Inspected by experts. 🔸 Traced from farm to store. 🔸 Shaped by public input. https://lnkd.in/emcVWwgf #NationalOrganicMonth #Organic

Today we commemorate the somber events of September 11, 2001, and honor the lives tragically lost. We pay tribute to the passengers and crew of Flight 93, and the brave acts of firefighters, first responders, police officers, and civilians at Ground Zero. #NeverForget
