Last month, we celebrated the opening of the UVA Health Children's Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Clinic. This clinic, staffed by our care providers and supported by a substantial investment from Sentara Health Martha Jefferson Hospital, will care for kids with mental health concerns and neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism and ADHD. Becker's Healthcare named UVA Cancer Center to its 2024 list of 100 hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs, describing the center as “a leader in cancer care, research and community outreach.” The publication spotlighted #UVAHealth’s 50% increase in patient volume since 2014 and a nearly 500% rise in research participation, backed by $77 million in annual research funding. Pam Buck has been part of our University of Virginia School of Medicine team for nearly 30 years. In 2011, her daughter Allison died in a traffic accident. Until then, Pam and her husband, Chris, didn't realize how much Allison did to help her community. Inspired by her quiet benevolence, they've spent the last 14 years honoring her legacy of love. They've given scholarships to high school seniors and donated to local nonprofits. In 2019, they created LovA11i Holiday Meals, which provides food and gifts to families during the holiday season and cat and dog food for the Fluvanna SPCA. “Alli had a beautiful spirit — one that touched so many in her too short time with us — and still continues to move people today," Pam says.
